Dejuan Guy appeared as Ellis

Boy Meets World was a hit on ABC from 1993-2000. Episodes can be viewed today on streaming services, and fans can enjoy the antics of the Matthews brothers and their close friends once more. Everyone knows the main characters, and three of them, Danielle Fishel (Topanga), Will Freidel ( Eric Matthews), and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), host the podcast Pod Meets World.

During the seven-year run, many young actors were classmates of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) from elementary school through his college years. One of them was a boy named Ellis, portrayed by Dejaun Guy in the season one episode On the Fence.

Ellis only appeared a few times

In this episode, Cory, Shawn, Stewart Minkus (Lee Norris), and Ellis (no last name) were playing with giant water guns that resembled Super Soakers. The water games began in the classroom where Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) was the teacher. The boys went to Cory's house and the park for a fierce water battle.

The character Ellis had chemistry with Cory and his friends but did not stick around. After only a few episodes, he disappeared from Boy Meets World without any notice, as did the other fill-ins. The classrooms and school hallways were full of students each year, but none remained for the entire series.

New characters and teachers came and went each season. The only character from the first season who was absent but returned was Minkus during high school graduation. Lee Norris was also part of Girl Meets World.

Dejaun Guy's impressive career

Dejuan Guy began his career early in life. Director John Singleton was impressed with Guy in A Raisin in the Sun at Marla Gibbs Crossroads Theater. He wanted the youngster to portray a young Tre in his hit film Boys in the Hood. The studio heads, however, decided the eight-year-old was too young, so Singelton gave Guy a different role. Unfortunately, his part was left on the cutting room floor.

The young actor went on to other memorable roles although he is not a household name. He portrayed Jake" in Clive Barkers' Horror Classic, "Candyman" and had roles in other films, including "Little Giants", "The Cherokee Kid" with "Sinbad" and the late "Gregory Hines", " One Man's Justice" with Brian Bosworth. Guy reunited with John Singleton in the role of "Looney Toon" in "Baby Boy."

Television roles

If Guy's face seems familiar, he also worked on numerous TV shows, beginning with a few episodes of "In Living Color, "co-starring in scenes with David Alan Grier, Jim Carey, and Jamie Fox. He also had television guest appearances in series including "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," Boston Public," "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "Chicago Hope," "Baywatch," Beverly Hills 90210", and "Murder One,"

"He also became a 'Series Regular role on the sitcom "Rewind." Perhaps you watched many of these TV series like me but did not recognize Jajuan from Boy Meets World.

DeJuan says he had the most fun playing the starring role of "Jelani" in the short film "Sweet Potato Ride"; written and directed by Camille Tucker and Kim Greene with Bill Duke as Executive producer.

Dejuan today

Dejuan Guy says his greatest joy has been singing in the Choir at First A.M.E. Church, where he was an active Youth Leader. He believes in his church's motto that he should live a life of service. He is currently doing community work with his Masonic Lodge.

He revealed that his church affiliation led to his meeting and conversing with Nelson Mandela, which he considers a life highlight. Ellis is one of many characters who appeared briefly on Boy Meets World. Although the young actors were not as well known as the main characters of Cory, Topanga, Shawn, and Eric, they each made a mark. You can watch the entire series on Disney + and relive those golden moments of the first season or the entire show.
