"Beyond the Gates" Week 22 Review
Highlights from a week that sees the soap reach their first big milestone

Beyond the Gates continues to shine as part of CBS' daytime lineup, without question. In the East Coast, the show airs at 2PM, but here in the West Coast, it's a 1PM airing, but regardless, the rookie soap has gained so much press, acclaim, and excellent attention. The show has been on for just over five months, and as I've said many, many times, this was the soap we need. It's a breath of fresh air compared to all of the other soaps--past and present.
The 22nd week of Beyond the Gates had some amazing highlights, and they are as follows:
July 28

It took 99 episodes, but Ted Richardson finally grew a spine when it came to Leslie. Leslie called herself hard up for moolah for necessities and went running to Ted, but he shut that down big time and told her to get to steppin'. In that instant, the following statement entered my mind: "About damn time!" Yes, Ted had been somewhat firm when it came to Leslie before, but never firm enough. He always ended up in some borderline compromising situation, but not in this instance. Ted really stood his ground in this regard. He better keep it up.
July 29

So Tuesday, July 29, 2025, was Beyond the Gates' first milestone: it was episode #100. And that episode's highlight centered on Kat and her entitlement, as Ted let Kat have it for what she had been doing to Eva. Two things Kat said really set my teeth on edge. One, Kat referred to Eva as a "nepo baby," despite the fact that Kat has way, way more family connections than Eva. And secondly, Kat had the nerve to say "I forgive you" to Ted, regarding the work situation between the girls. She's acting like Ted is at fault for giving Eva this chance in the first place. Ted's at fault for a lot of things. The negative aura in the current work environment is not one of them. Kat caused all of that.
July 30

Again, this is just another instance where I talk about the show's power couple, and how elated I am to see Vernon continue to show his immense adoration of Anita. What we are seeing from Vernon is how Black men really are: treating women like the queens they are. I have to emphasize this like a broken record because despite the fact that we are almost two-thirds through 2025, we still live in a society that believes that Black (and Latinx) men can never treat women right, but White men can never do any wrong to women--despite mounds and mounds and mounds of evidence of toxically misogynistic White men doing their worst to women.
July 31

I had to mention this, because the week saw Andre and Ashley draw themselves closer and closer to each other. Andre is an idiot. For one, he seems to want to be with nuclear Ashley, and two (and even worse), he's doing this at the expense of his relationship with Dani. Yeah. The same Dani who is capable of pretty much anything, and that's by her own admission. Andre knows this, yet he insists on tempting fate and poking the proverbial bear with... whatever the hell this is with Ashley. I would find Andre's stupidity humorous, if it wasn't so egregious.
August 1

August arrived, and with it, came the moment we all waited for: the Articulettes' reunion performance. Seeing this display, seeing this beautiful show of R&B and soul representation absolutely warmed this viewer. This is exactly what soaps lacked. Flavor. Soul. Rhythm. This soap has all of the things that the others didn't bother trying to develop. Seeing this performance was absolutely beautiful; Anita, Tracy, and Sharon were fabulous!

Congratulations to Beyond the Gates for surpassing the 100-episode mark! I just know that many, many more episodes will come, and there will be a lot of wild moments to discuss as the show progresses!
