A powerful CEO puts his career and family at risk when he begins a passionate affair with a much younger intern.

The plot seems familiar: it has been cited not only in movies, but also in newspapers and numerous HR cases over the years.

It`s Coming (2023) – Movie Review

The highlight of "Babygirl" is that the CEO in question is a woman (Nicole Kidman) and the intern is a young man.

Ahead of the film's world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, writer-director Hallena Raine spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and said her goal was to make a film reminiscent of the '90s erotic thrillers that appeared in the movies. As people become more sensible. Babygirl is available to watch on Afdah movie online.

"As a consumer, sometimes you want to see a sexy movie with hot people that gets you a little excited."

Babygirl follows in the footsteps of films like Saltburn and The Challengers that captivate audiences. A gap in the market wants a little lust in his hot dog... but not together, or you'll be thrown out of the cinema. Dune's popcorn bucket had plenty of it!

Nicole Kidman's moans can be heard over the A24 logo, before cutting to a close tracking shot of her having sex with her husband, played by Antonio Banderas, conveying her intent intensely, almost prematurely. After sharing a tender moment at the end of their lovemaking, Kidman heads down the hallway to her home study, where she gets on all fours and climaxes with her fingers while watching porn on her laptop. Men who dominate (and humiliate) young women are especially fascinated by the way they are treated.

At this point, it feels like movies have come a long way (pardon the pun) since Blue Valentine received an NC-17 rating for including a scene in which Michelle Williams performs oral sex on Ryan Gosling's character.

The fact that women on screen enjoy sex and even *whisper* orgasms seems to be one of the last taboos or forbidden obstacles to overcome in Hollywood.

In a way, it's similar to the barriers and hurdles that stand in the way of women in the business world.

Though Romy has conquered the corporate world, she can't be truly happy - not only because she has dark desires she can't satisfy, but also because she knows that doing so could jeopardize everything she's ever worked so hard for.

Nevertheless, temptation rears its alluring head in the form of the mysterious Samuel, a new intern at her company who she finds herself drawn to by the way he controls and calms angry and scared dogs. They're literally eating out of his hands... Will she go along with him like a "good girl"?

Kidman and Dickinson have an undeniable, melting, palpable chemistry. It's not a question of "will you or won't you?" but "will you do as I say?" climaxes. He looks almost carefree in a tracksuit, while she's in high-end, haute couture class business attire. She's disgusted with the production, and with herself being there, and wants to leave. But her carnal desires prove too strong; she should be out by now, but is soon on all fours.

The embarrassment, shame, guilt and ridicule both characters experience as they explore their boundaries are acknowledged. This leads to one particular moment that, for this reviewer, triggered a flashback to the moment George Galloway asked, "Can I be a cat?" The film's midpoint leaves something to be desired. The ubiquity of Christmas trees in homes and offices evokes a period of a few weeks, but it feels like an eternity. There's too much back and forth about power relationships. It takes too long for the stakes to really matter and have an effect.

Boundaries are constantly explored, but there's never a sense of them actually being breached. There's a moment in the third act that has the audience sitting on the edge of their seats wondering if this couple could have a submissive threesome, but sadly no trigger is pulled.

Ultimately, it feels a bit too tame to really create the lasting impression it needs. There should have been more eroticism, a bit more pushing of the boundaries of both the characters and the audience, and someone yelling "Jacob" a little too early.
