It may have been three years since its 2021 Netflix debut, but Arcane: League of Legends Season 2 was definitely worth waiting for.

The sophomore and final season of the adult animated steampunk action epic series presented viewers with some of the best cinematic animation ever seen, along with great storytelling, stirring battle sequences, and arguably the best soundtrack for a TV series, let alone an animated one.

With Arcane Season 1 winning four Emmys and nine Annie Awards, Season 2 is likely to pick up as many awards for its animation mastery, if not more!

Based on Riot Games' multiplayer online battle game League of Legends, Arcane is co-created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, and produced by French animation studio Fortiche.

Here are the Top 12 best moments of Arcane Season 2: (Needless to say, SPOILERS ahead if you have yet to watch it!)

Top 12 Best Moments In 'Arcane' Season 2

Arc 1 (Episodes 1-3)

1. Sevika v Smeech Showdown

To the pulsating beat of “Renegade (We Never Run)” by Stefflon Don and Raja Kumari featuring Jarina de Marco, Sevika (voiced by Amirah Vann) arriving in time to save Jinx's butt from Smeech and his goons in a back alley in Episode 2, “Watch It All Burn,” was simply great to watch.

Blending vibrantly colored 2D and 3D animation, the duel is exhilarating, bangin' and downright hilarious, thanks primarily to the new cybrog arm that Jinx built for Sevika that operates like a slot machine, blasts loud music and sets off fireworks when victory is achieved.

2. Vi vs Jinx's First Fight

Egged on by Caitlyn (Katie Leung), Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) is determined to put Jinx (Ella Purnell) down in Episode 3, "Finally Got The Name Right”.

Accompanied by Woodkid's “To Ashes and Blood”, the sisters using all their weaponry and anger to beat each other up in a rundown temple dedicated to the ancient spirit Janna was both mesmerizing and brutal to watch.

The fight climaxed when a happy-to-be-killed-by-Vi Jinx is saved by little Isha (Lucy Lowe).

3. Jinx & Isha's Bonding

In Episode 4, "Paint the Town Blue," the usually troubled Jinx appears much happier since the adorable Isha came into her life.

From painted beetle battles to matching blue hair, seeing Jinx and Isha having wholesome fun is certainly one of Arcane Season 2's highlights.

As someone commented on Threads, Jinx hears voices in her head, is always told by people she's jinxed and evil, and yet it took someone without a voice to give her a new and happier purpose and responsibility in life.

4. Big Fat Hero

After rescuing Jinxers and other Zaunites including Scar (Robbie Daymond) and Babette (the late Mira Furlan) from Stillwater Hold in Episode 4, there is a touching moment when every person gently pat Jinx on the shoulder (and hand) to acknowledge what she has done for them.

Also in the formidable venue where young Vi was imprisoned for many years, two more touching moments ensued in the episode when Jinx rescues and consoles a mightily-relieved Isha and when, after a ferocious battle, the beast Warwick (JB Blanc) called Jinx by her former name, Powder...

5. Oil Slick Vi

In the opening sequence of Episode 5, "Blisters and Bedrock," we are introduced to a Vi with spiky jet black hair and grungy gear.

Thought perhaps she might be reinventing herself as a bare-knuckle champion, but despite her winning streak, the depressed Vi soon spirals into drunken despair over the one who got away.

Glad Jinx came in time with vital news—despite almost choked to death by her sister—so that Vi can get out of a literally dark place.

6. Vi vs Jinx's 2nd Fight

While their Episode 2 fight was brutally painful, Vi and Jinx's coming to blows again in Episode 5 was hilariously funny.

On the way to locate Vander/Warwick, the sisters bickered with barbs such as "chickenshit tricks" and "over-designed bitch mittens" before Jinx's one-second slap on Vi results in a very just-your-typical-sibling-brawl before the fight ends abruptly when Vi sends Isha flying with a bloody nose.

So good to see the siblings just having "sisterly conversation"...

7. Vi Meets Warwick

Fending Jinx and Isha from harm without hesitation, Vi taking on the beast Warwick in Episode 5 is yet another fantastic action sequence in Arcane Season 2 combining amazing animation, slow-mo action and good lighting.

After finally trusting to believe Jinx that the beast is indeed Vander, Vi slowly brings down her Hextech gauntlets, providing one of the season's most iconic images before calling Vander by name...

8. "He's your dad too..."

"What are you waiting for? He's your dad too," says Vi to Jinx in Episode 5 after the epic Vi-vs-Warwick battle.

And what happened next is the mother (or rather, father) of all family hugs—with Isha joining in too—in an utterly heartfelt Arcane moment that broke the Internet.

9. Isha’s Sacrifice

It was the "Pew!" that shot through the hearts of many Arcane viewers.

In the mayhem that followed after Jayce "kills" Viktor in the latter's commune and Noxian soldiers rush in to subdue a Warwick gone berserk in Episode 6, "The Message Hidden Within the Pattern," Isha takes it upon herself to end the chaotic battle in order to protect Jinx and put Vander/Warwick out of his misery.

As she runs towards an obvious end, water-colored memories of the blissful times she had with Jinx flash before our eyes as the heart-wrenching "Isha’s Song" by Eason Chan plays. (Chinese song title literally translated as "I'm Fine The Way I Am.")

Tears still flow upon repeated viewings of this moment...

Act 3 (Episodes 7-9)

10. Life in An Alternate Universe

After warping through the anomaly, Ekko (Reed Shannon) finds himself in an alternate universe in Episode 7 "Pretend Like It’s The First Time," where Zaun is thriving, there is no Hextech, his dead friends are not dead (but Vi is, sadly) and Heimerdinger (Mick Wingert) has forged a new life as a street performer.

From the opening jukebox disk's image change—Ekko and Powder instead of Vi and Jinx—to Ekko and Powder dancing blissfully to Stromae & Pomme's infectious “Ma Meilleure Ennemie” (French for "My Best Enemy",) another unforgettable image from this episode is when Powder and Ekko shares a kiss over a vibrant and peaceful Zaun.

11. Jinx’s Sassy Entrance Into Battle

In Episode 8, "The Dirt Under Your Nails," just as it seems that the Piltover forces led by Caitlyn, Mel and Vi are beaten by Ambessa and her forces, Jinx—thankfully saved from committing suicide by Ekko—arrives to save the day in an air-balloon warship (her refitted living quarters bedecked with tributes to her loved ones,) along with Ekko and his Firelights on flying hoverboards, while Sevika leads the Zaunite ground forces.

Synced to the energetic "Come Play" by Stray Kids, Young Miko and Tom Morello, this sequence is without question one of the most uplifting sequences in Arcane Season 2.

12. “This is what you see...”

In the finale episode, after Viktor (Harry Lloyd) entraps Jayce's (Kevin Alejandro) consciousness, the latter sees the former in his "human messiah" glory within a cosmic space.

It may be brief but it is easily one of the most stunning images in the brilliantly illustrated Arcane Season 2.

Other Special Mentions:

* The vibrant color-bombing of Piltover (courtesy of Sevika via Jinx) in Episode 3;

* Vi's moment of disbelief upon seeing Jinx depicted as a hero on a mural in Episode 5;

*The heartwarming flashback scene between Vander, Silco and Felicia (Vi and Jinx's mom) at The Last Drop in Episode 5.

* Viktor exploring Vander's memories within Warwick in the "Remember Me" musical sequence in Episode 6.

Arcane season too was absolutely worth the wait! The selfish part of me really wanted them to extend the story to another season but even though some of the pacing wasn't the best, they wrapped up the story well. I'm excited for the studio to explore more of the League of Legends world!
