A Different World: Eric Who?

Episodes 23 and 24 of season 3 of A Different World are titled Getaway. Parts 1 and 2. They aired in April 1990, and the setting is when the Hillman gang goes to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for spring break. The group encounters two drug dealers named Paul and Eric, but nothing else is known about these characters.

Paul has long hair down over his shoulders and his name is Steven E. Daniels, an actor and producer per his IDMb page. Eric is very muscular and has short hair. He is in the cover photo on the right, and his name is not listed anywhere.

Spring Break for the Hillman gang

Together, the duo might remind some of Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas, who played Sonny Crocket and Ricardo Tubbs on the original Miami Vice, which ran on NBC from 1984 to 1988. Crocket adn Tubbs put drug dealers in jailn but Eric and Paul are on the wrong side of the law. This is one of the more entertaining episodes of A Different World and takes placee outside the school, outside of Virginia and the drug dealers play a significant role.

Freddie Brooks (Cree Summer) and Kim Reese (Charnelle Brown) befriend the two men who show up attheir beah cottage saying they are pharmaceutical sales reps. Kim is excited because she is pre-med and Eric is in the sazme field. The men are actually looking for Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Ron Johnson (Darryl Bell), who have mistakenly taken their bag full of drugs and money. The girls are quite smitten with Eric and Paul, but spring break does not go as planned.

Uncredited actors on A Different World

Fans remember many uncredited semi-regular cast members on A Different World. There was the short guy who mostly wore sweaters and was silent. he only spoke in the season 3 episode where Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) is complaining about Julian Day (Dominic Hoffman) being engaged to a woman named Shelby (Yvette Holland Vasquez).

There is an unnamed female student who worked in the Pitt for several seasons and also Loretta, who briefly dates Ron. A few more male and female students show up in classes during the six-year run of the series but do not interact except to laugh and are not named or credited.

Eric and Paul were only in two episodes, but, oddly, one man's name is listed in online credits while the other is not. Omitting the name of the actor who portrayed Eric leaves fans unable to look him up and discover what he has been up to over the decades.

Where is Eric's portrayer now?

Reuben Grundy, who portrays Ernest, and Susan Fales, who plays Mandy, are listed at the end of each Get Away episode. Fales was also a producer and director on the show. The actors who portrayed Paul and Eric should have been listed in the television credits. After all, they played a prominent role in two episodes. At least Paul is listed online, but nothing about Eric is known.

What was the name of this man who portrayed such a memorable character? Did he remain in the entertainment business or leave Hollywood behind? Did he marry or have children, and is he living or deceased?

I do not recall him in other television shows but perhaps someone reading does. I have not seen him on Where are They Now or Unsung and its as if he disappeared after those two episods of A Different World. If anyone reading can shed light on Eric's portrayer please leave a comment.
