Intro
Hello everyone, today, we’ll be discussing the Xbox Series X vs. the PS5 to help you decide which is best for you. We’ll cover everything from the design to the game selection and the overall gaming experience.
Design
The PS5 and Xbox Series X are definitely different in the design standards, as the Xbox is small, chubby, and quite minimal compared to the PS5 which is tall, slim, and stands out, and a sale point for some is size, this is because some people just don’t have enough space on their shelf for a PS5, there also is a PS5 slim, which is smaller compared to the original, but still slightly bigger than the Xbox Series X. Also when we look at customization, the PS5 when it comes out of the box has these white panels, but in the past 5 years, PlayStation has revealed loads of new panels, these panels are easy to put on, you simply click your old ones joff, and click your new ones on, it's just like changing some batteries. The Xbox on the other hand also has some customization features, Xbox themselves have revealed some wraps for your Xbox where you wrap it around and attach it using velcro, it's like putting on a piece of clothing, I would say the PS5 customization options are much better than the Xbox’s customization.
Games
Now let's look at the games… both consoles have mostly the same games from Fortnite to Call of Duty, and now even Forza Horizon 5. Still, there is one thing that sets them apart, and that's the exclusives, exclusives are games you can only play on only one of the consoles, for example, you can play Starfield on Xbox but not on PlayStation, The PS5 also has some really good exclusives which I say outnumber the number of good exclusives that Xbox has like God of War, Spider-Man 2, Horizon forbidden west. Still, then again Xbox also has a few good exclusives like the Halo games or Gears of War, but if you would want to play the Halo games you might want to gravitate towards the Xbox, but if you're going to play Spiderman games you would most likely lean towards the PS5.
Controller
The Xbox Series Controller vs the PS5 DualSense Controller: all I can say is that the PlayStation 5 controller beats the Xbox by a landslide. I am saying this because the controller is better in basically every aspect. Vibration is better due to dynamic adaptive triggers, which is hard to explain, but basically pushes back your finger on the controller according to what happens in the game, On the Xbox controller, there is nothing creative beside a vibrating brick with buttons and some decent ergonomics.
Backward Compatibility
The Xbox has much better backward compatibility, as it can easily play games from previous generations both physically and digitally. The PS5 can only play PS4 discs, but it can play previous-generation games digitally only with a PS Plus premium membership, which has the classic catalog. However, it’s good to see both consoles trying to bring the classics to next-generation consoles.
Performance
The PlayStation 5’s performance is slightly worse than the Xbox Series X as the PS5 is performing at 10.28 teraflops, and the Xbox is performing at 12 teraflops. A simple definition of a teraflop is the measure of calculating the speed of a computer, but surely it is more complicated than that. But in the end, they both perform almost the same, as both can run 4K while having 120 fps along with HDR, and both have the same amount of storage at 1 terabyte while the original has only 825 GBS, but the slim model of the console has 1 terabyte. Both also have expandable storage. On the PS5, you can easily click off the panel and change the SSD, but you can also just plug in some external storage. The Xbox can only have an expandable external storage, not internal, unlike the PS5.
Personally
Now, I would lean more towards the PS5 as it has better exclusives, a better controller, and better customization settings. it is a little less in power, but it’s not noticeable at all.
