New Map: Waterfront

First off, let’s talk about the new map we got this season: Waterfront. I have to say, this is my favorite map in the game so far! The layout is rectangular and perfectly sized, with clearly defined lanes. It offers great separation between these lanes, yet also includes interesting cut points that allow for tactical plays.

From my experience, Waterfront plays exceptionally well, especially in objective game modes. The flow is smooth, and the design encourages dynamic engagements. It reminds me of a weapon from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, where you shoot a saw blade that bounces around. In my experience, this weapon can lead to some hilarious yet frustrating moments where you get killed by a stray blade while the player didn’t even intend to hit you.

You get six shots with the Saw Launcher, which is quite generous considering how many times the blades bounce. However, I think it could benefit from a time constraint, pushing players to use it more strategically. Currently, you can take as long as you want to get those shots off, which might detract from the urgency in gameplay.

The Highwaymen also come with a couple of other abilities. One is the Scrap Turret, which auto-locks onto enemies and shoots them. While it’s not particularly lethal, it can help with damage and assists. In my experience, it didn’t secure many kills, as it takes time to lock onto fast-moving targets.

The second ability is the M79 Launcher, a grenade launcher that fires two projectiles per use. The projectile has a significant drop, requiring you to aim higher than expected. This can lead to trade kills since enemies often have enough time to shoot you before the grenade explodes.

However, the standout feature of the Highwaymen is their passive ability called Revved. As you secure kills in a single life, your rate of fire and reload speed increase. This brings back memories of previous Call of Duty mechanics and adds a fun layer to gameplay. It's my favorite aspect of this faction, despite the occasional bug with the overlay that shows your maximum potential after a four-kill streak.

New Weapon: PP19

Now, let’s touch on the new weapon I’ve had the chance to use: the PP19. As the slowest-firing SMG in the game, it offers a slightly better range profile compared to its counterparts. Its time to kill is on par with the MP7, which makes it quite viable. While it has a large magazine capacity, this comes with slower movement speed and handling, positioning it between an SMG and an assault rifle.

Once you unlock some key attachments, especially those improving movement speed and aim down sight (ADS) strafe speed, the PP19 becomes a fun weapon to use. I’ve enjoyed my time with it, and I think it has a lot of potential.

Matchmaking and Gameplay Feedback

On a less positive note, I’ve noticed some concerns regarding matchmaking times and kill trades. Matchmaking has been quite slow for me, often taking several minutes to find a lobby. This raises concerns about player count or potential technical issues with matchmaking.

Another issue is the increase in kill trades. While I appreciate the fix for ghost hit markers, it seems that the window for accepting hits has widened significantly. As a result, one-third of my deaths have been kill trades, which feels excessive. The developers are aware of this issue and plan to tighten that window in future updates, which I hope happens soon.

Lastly, I’ve been missing persistent lobbies. If we could stay in the same lobby after a match, it would enhance the gameplay experience significantly. The developers have indicated they plan to implement this feature, and I look forward to its arrival.
