You're sure to find a lot of JRPG games on the Switch and PS5 in 2021

You're sure to find a lot of JRPG games on the Switch and PS5 in 2021. The Nintendo Switch and the PS5 are both home to some of best JRPG games. But, if you want great JRPGs you must get a PS5 because this console has some amazing entries to this often-misaligned genre. These are the top PS5 JRPGs that you can play in 2021. Some of these can be played backwards compatible with PS4 games; the PS5 hasn’t had much success yet with its RPG library. However, there are some gems. Let's have a look without further delay!

Yakuza - Like a Dragon

Many were worried about Kazuma Kiryu's future as series protagonist, and they were right. They were wrong. The new boy Ichiban Kasuga brings a lot of positive, bubbly energy to the new jaunt in Yokohama. Although combat is now turn-based, it was always that way. Who can say they didn’t stop old Yakuzagames mid battle for some quick Staminan applications? Like A Dragon is an RPG that's full of joy and has a heartfelt, involving story.

Final Fantasy VII Intergrade

Final Fantasy VII VII Remakewas launched in 2020. Intergradeis still the best way to follow Cloud and his adventures through the crowded streets of Midgar. The new episode features Yuffie Kisaragi (the ninja thief). It also has improved graphics, frame rates, and performance. Final Fantasy VII: Remakesplit opinion at launch, but one thing is certain; it's an accomplished JRPG and doesn't mind taking some risks with its beloved source material.

Persona 5 Royal

We recommend that you play Persona 5 with Royal if you don't have it yet. This is an enhanced version of the Persona5. It features a new character and more content. It's a mix of JRPG dungeon crawling and social link building, with an amazing soundtrack and some of most charming characters you'll ever encounter in a JRPG. Although combat is turn-based, it has a dynamic, fizzing energy that makes each shot feel like it's connecting.

Ni no Kuni - Wrath of the White Witch Remastered

You can skip the disappointing sequel but Ni no Kuni is a game you must experience. This is a Level-5 JRPG that's been filtered through the sentimental sensibilities of Studio Ghibli, animation kingpins. Although it doesn't reach the heights of Studio Ghibli's greatest animations, it is a touching, sometimes heartbreaking tale about a young boy's quest to find the "another world". Although the combat is a bit wonky and the sidequests are repetitive it's so magical that it doesn't matter.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition

Dragon Quest XI is a very conventional JRPG. You'll find all the familiar tropes - a young hero in a small village, an evil king and a thief with a heart full of gold - but if the genre is your favorite, Dragon Quest XI's classic nature will be a great strength. DQXI is a great comfort game. It's easy to play with a warm beverage by your side, even though there are no surprises. You won't find excitement or innovation here. But if you are looking for something that will bring back memories, Dragon Quest XI is the perfect choice.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered

Valkyria Chroniclessimply should not work. It's basically a blend of World War II-era storytelling and anime aesthetics. You play Welkin, an innocent civilian, who must still take up the sword (or gun) to defend Gallia from an invading army. While the parallels between each country and their World War II counterparts may seem a bit thick, Valkyria Chronicleshas surprising emotional and tactical depth. The twee design is acceptable if you are able to bear the robust strategy RPG.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

Before we move on, let's clarify one thing: "ees" is pronounced East without the T at end. Okay? Ys is a popular franchise in the West. Despite the cheap cracks about its name, it's a well-known brand that has a dedicated fan base. This semi-open world JRPG is well done and offers plenty to see, do, and fight. Although it has a darker tone than other games in the series, it is the perfect entry level for anyone who wants to learn more about the franchise.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered

This Final Fantasytitle is the best. Final Fantasy VII doesn't need an introduction. Everyone will agree that Final Fantasy IX was a masterpiece. However, many Final Fantasy VIII fans have been unfairly misaligned. The series recasts classic save-the world melodrama in a high school setting. Many didn't like the teenage drama and sloppy dialogue. But, if you look past all of this, Final Fantasy VIIIhas one the greatest worlds ever created. It also has an outstanding soundtrack, plenty of classic series bosses, and a lot of great monsters.
