Hades is next level!
I have an addiction to difficult games. They intrigue me and I find the challenge fun, even though I’m pretty terrible at them. Dark Souls is a game I’ve never finished but each time I play I get a little bit further. Roguelike/lite games latched on to this feeling of progression by adding randomised levels, permadeath but also permanent progression.

My Suggestion for the Pokemon Go Spin Distance Controversy
There has been much discussion about PokemonGo’s recent changing of the distance you can spin PokeStops and Pokemon Gyms from the extended distance introduced during the Covid pandemic back to the original distance. While Niantic has promised they will look into solutions, many players are still upset with the decision and want the distance to be changed to the extended distance permanently.

Tecmo Super Bowl
The time is December 1991, and the video gaming sports world is about to be changed forever. Tecmo Super Bowl was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in the United States, but nobody knew that it would become a cult classic that is still enjoyed today. Before Tecmo Super Bowl came out, sports games were unplayable. It was impossible to pass, run, maneuver around the field, or to even a complete a single play. Yet, the computer would effortlessly complete plays. The game was too difficult, thus making it unplayable.

Universal Movie Monsters' Pokemon Teams
I have always been a Pokemon fan, I was there when the franchise was introduced in the United States and have been an avid fan ever since. The same is not true for horror, it took quite a long time for the genre to grow on me but I am now well into it. My favorite part of the horror genre is the OG horror movies, I am a fan of the classics and the Universal Classic Monster Movies are among my favorites.

Is it possible to do a 3-Star Raid in Pokemon Go by yourself?
A question I hear a lot and see posted often is whether or not someone can beat a 3-Star Raid solo in Pokemon Go. The short answer is yes, but like most short answers in life, this does have an asterisk next to it.

Love in the Time of Animal Crossing
When I matched with my last girlfriend on Tinder, neither of us were quite sure how it had happened, from a logistical perspective. She was living in Los Angeles, and I was based in Berkeley for college. Both of us had our preferred locations set to 15 or 20 miles away maximum, and yet somehow, we both swiped right on each other. What followed was a kind of game in which neither of us were ever serious with the other because at the end of the day, neither of us really intended to meet up. Where would we go, Merced?

The Nintendo64 and Goldeneye
In the winter of 1998, I was at college when one of my flatmates brought his Nintendo 64 console home. Up to this point, I had been playing the PlayStation and had always thought of Nintendo consoles as ‘kids machines.’ In my mind, the PlayStation was more age-appropriate. My outlook suddenly changed, however, the moment I played GoldenEye 007.

Frustrated Video Game Guy
Welcome. I’m just going to put this out there right off the bat; a guy who still collects action figures well into his mid-thirties, still watches (and ENJOYS, no less than in his youth) his old animated DVDs, and loves music is, naturally, going to be a video gamer too.

Smash at E3: My Personal Picks for DLC Fighter 10
It’s that time of the year again – after being absent in 2020 due to the pandemic, the time has come for E3 to set the entertainment world ablaze once more. Suddenly, the air is rife with predictions for what will be revealed at the event – new games, DLC for older titles, and of course, brand new systems. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this edition of E3 is one of the most hyped yet due to its comeback after a year long absence, and a large portion of that hype is due to several eyes being on Nintendo for what they plan to reveal during the event – while the rumors about the next edition of the Nintendo Switch dominate the conversation about Nintendo’s plans at E3, another major talking point of their reveals is the character that will make their way over to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the second wave of downloadable fighters. So far, the 2nd Fighter’s Pass has been a mixed bag in the eyes of a majority of fans of the hit franchise – while inclusions like Steve and Sephiroth have blown away fans, the addition of Min Min and Pyra/Mythra were not received so positively by some fans, with the latter receiving a particularly harsh reception due to their status as yet another sword fighter in a game that already has 20 of them.
