One of the highlights of this and any patch that comes to Tarkov are the new guns. It’s always fun to see what we get in terms of new ways to shoot our enemies in the face. And while the iconic G36 has made it into the game, I seldom see a reason to use it. Sure, it has gotten much better with both buffs to itself and the ammo it uses, but I find myself much more into another new weapon from this patch: the SAG 545 Ak 545.... yeah, kind of an interesting name.

Killing Floor 2 - I forgot how sick this game is.
We’ve had a lot of zombie games over the years. For a while it seemed like it was one after another. Games like Left 4 Dead and the sequel, Resident Evil, and COD zombies are the main ones that come to my mind when someone mentions zombie games. And while there has been arguably a saturation of that genre in terms of sheer volumes of games, they are still fun. At least to me. Zombie games are the quintessential co-op game in my eyes; they are stressful, require some level of teamwork and can be hype as hell when everything works together. One such game that I played a long time ago, and just got back into recently is Killing Floor 2. I never played the original; I watched a lot of videos on it, but that was way before I had a PC to play games on. But the second game is awesome, and I can’t believe that I forgot how sick this game is.

What I hope Arena inadvertently does for Tarkov
With the recent news that Arena mode for Tarkov is not only real, but being tested later on this year, I figured it would make sense to go over some hopes and anticipations for what Arena mode will bring and ultimately what kind of impact it will have on both the game and community as a whole. This is something a lot of us who have been playing for years now have known has been going on in the background. But to be honest, I really never saw it coming to fruition, simply due to the fact that Tarkov has evolved into something I don’t think BSG every really imagined would happen with their game. I’m sure they are happy so many people are playing and enjoying it, but the scale is something I have a strong suspicion they were never ready for. But they have made solid strides to rectify those kinds of issues and are on their way to releasing another sizable and monumentally game-changing patch for Tarkov with patch 12.12.xxx. There’s a lot to be excited for, but to me personally, the new and updated animations are incredible and will make life in the game so much better. Everyone will actually look like they are carrying guns and running around with them as they should. Instead of the strange hand-over-rifle pseudo reload animation they do currently (if you’ve ever looked at a faraway PMC through a scope you know exactly what I’m talking about). But there’s a ton of goodies coming that we also don’t even know about so get hype; it’s going to be a good patch.

BattleBit Remastered – Better than BF 2042
I’ve never really gotten super into the Battlefield series, with the exception of Bad Company 2. I genuinely enjoyed the heck out of that game and put the most amount of time into it than any other BF game. BF 4 is second but it doesn’t even come close. However, when Battlefield 2042 was initially teased I like most people was excited! It looked better than COD at the time, and was hopefully going to be a good supplement to Tarkov as a game I can relax and just enjoy with some friends messing around in. In the wake of that games’ release... we didn’t get that. Far from it, in fact; which is a shame. I’m not a diehard BF fan, but they are great games and I enjoy them casually from time to time. But there is a game in Beta currently that gives me nothing but the best feeling from the BF series, and it’s Battlebit Remastered.

I Miss Old Tarkov
I miss old Tarkov. I miss how small the game was back in the day. How finding this game was a true gem; with how wacky and unorthodox it was. As someone who grew up on consoles, and played more arcade games like COD and all different kinds of other shooters and racing games. It was so bizarre to watch and look at the first time I saw it. Barely any HUD, going really slow, being incredibly methodical and tactical with your choices within the game. It was almost an out of body experience. But in all the right ways. I just had so many questions about the game; who made it, what their intentions were with it. I was so captivated by everything I was seeing and reading. So, the game was bought in September of 2017. And my first reaction to actually playing the game was.... interesting.

I've always liked the RFB: Here's Why
The Kel-Tec RFB was added October of 2020. And it was initially received... poorly. Most people weren’t too keen on how limited the gun is when you try to mod it and make it effective while at the same time, ergonomic. And to be honest, I had a fairly similar sentiment. I tried a variety of optics and setups to try and make the gun work. And gave up when I couldn’t find something I liked. A couple of wipes later, I remember killing a player and seeing he was running an RFB. And his setup was perfect. Low 30mm ring mount, a Burris 1/4x scope, suppressor and a magpul foregrip. It felt good, looked sleek, and had manageable recoil for single shot .308. From that day, I made it a point to run that gun as often as possible, and it truly has grown on me over the years. Easily one of my most used weapons, and for good reason.

The Blackbeard Problem
USPs, or Unique Selling Points, are what make a game stand out from the crowd of other games that share the same characteristics. For example; Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is a hack and slash action-adventure game utilizing the counter-based combat made famous by the Arkham series. But its USP, the nemesis system, puts it head and shoulders above almost all other hack and slash games released recently in terms of both critical acclaim as well as replayability. Superhot is a minimalistic first person shooter that stands out due to its USP; time only moving when the character does, which turns a fast-paced shooter into an almost strategy-esque title. And of course, the godfather of USP’s; Portal. Portal is one of a million physics puzzle games, but is widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever made because of how its USP, the titular portals, makes for a completely unique experience relative to other games that share the genre of ‘puzzle’. All of these USPs take a core mechanic that has been done millions of times before; killing orcs, shooting people, and solving puzzles, and makes it completely unique; killing specific orcs, taking a breather from shooting people to plan your next move, and solving puzzles with portals. Even though these three games all have wildly different genres and USPs, they all share one specific quality; they are single player or co-op only. What happens when a competitive, player vs player game has a USP? And why can that get it into trouble? Let’s talk about Siege.
