Lighthouse is Tarkov’s Worst Map; Here’s Why
(Intro) Out of all the current playable maps in Tarkov, Lighthouse is the worst. A rather bold claim, but this particular map has been problematic for some time since its introduction into the game. A small, coastal section of the entire Norvisnk region littered with layout problems, spawn conundrums, and a general disdain for the quests that are required of us to complete. Speaking only from personal experience, I have never been excited to load onto Lighthouse outside of when it was initially released into the game. The problems with the map are layers deep; things that would require them to literally redesign the map from potentially the ground up. There were some elements that were not well thought out in concept, and because of that, have plagued this map for years now. No map is perfect; every single one of them have their own issues, and some that are shared across a variety of maps. But Lighthouse is the most rotten out of all of them, and is in desperate need of some attention. Customs really doesn’t need another once over right now, but instead that attention and care should be going to this map. Lighthouse sucks, and here’s why.

Tarkov's Weight System - 4 Years Later
(Intro) One of the most divisive mechanics to ever be added into Tarkov, it’s been over four years since the introduction of the weight system and all that’s associated with it. Before it was implemented, people could run around in the game with literally hundreds of kilos worth of gear in their backpack and feel no ramifications associated with it. I remember seeing videos of people bringing in empty thick item cases into labs, and over the course of a single raid, killing raiders and other PMCs alike and filling it as much as they could. It’s crazy to think that weight used to be, at one point, a non–factor; no matter what gear you were using or what you had acquired in the raid, everyone moved at the same base speed (excluding strength bonuses for those who power leveled it up to max). But then, BSG decided to add a system that made you slower, more lethargic and made it significantly more difficult to extract with even more than just two people’s worth of loot. And over the four years it has existed, it’s gone through many different changed and iterations. So, how bad was the weight system when it was first added? How rapidly did it get changed? What did the community think of it? And how is it now in 2024, four years later?

Does Tarkov Need Another Recoil Rework?
(Intro) BSG might plan to update the current recoil system we have in Tarkov, and it doesn’t look to be for the better. On the TarkovTV that happened this Halloween, at the very end of the stream, Nikita showed off some work in progress clips of a new revised recoil update to the current system we already know and love. And immediately, people looked at the footage and did not want them to go through with it, which promptly frustrated Nikita. He then said they won’t do it, but something about that whole interaction felt off. I can tell he was trying to convey his point in that they weren’t actually changing the values of the recoil itself, but instead reworking how the recoil is conveyed to the player and the visual feedback that is given to us. And to be honest, after looking at the footage they provided and trying to recreate it on the current patch of the game, I’m inclined to believe they were indeed going to make some adjustments to the recoil, if ever so slightly. But this whole thing begs a simple question: does Tarkov right now need any kind of adjustment to its recoil system. The short answer is no. But it’s a little more complicated than that.

(Intro) BSG’s latest TarkovTV has a lot to unpack. On Halloween BSG went live on their twitch channel to sit down and go over some upcoming changes for both arena and the main game. This livestream was unexpected and ran for about an hour. But we got a lot of solid information in terms of where BSG wants to take both arena and Tarkov going forward. The Arena patch just went live last Friday and after playing it for a while, it’s a very welcome patch with the additions being awesome.

Tarkov Fixed All These Scopes
(Intro) In patch 0.15 there were a lot of large and noticeable changes and additions added into Tarkov. Trip mines, Partizan the boss and his associated karma system, the brand-new Factory. There was a ton to wet out palette with and enjoy this go around. Sometimes, the wipes feel kind of lackluster; either because they are devoid of impactful changes or additions, or because we go so long without a wipe that hitting the reset button is almost jarring to many. But this one was on the better end of updates. What also came with this patch was something the community has wanted for quite some time now. And that’s the ability to adjust the zoom level of the different variable optics currently in the game smoothly instead of being on either one zoom level or the other. To be honest, and I’m trying not to be hyperbolic here, but this change is freaking massive for the game. So many optics are now usable and totally viable instead of the two or three that people always gravitated towards. There are so many more opportunities for variety now, it’s awesome. Some scopes were affected more than others, but in general this change was a massive net positive for the game as a whole. As far as I have played around with in terms of the scopes, there isn’t really a bad option or any that can’t be used anymore. Some are still better than others, and I’m sure people will be hesitant to try something else instead of just using what works, but I would encourage anyone watching this to give the scopes that were actual jokes in the game a try and see if you like them. You never know; you might just find an alternative that is just as if not more effective for a cheaper price.
