Where Are They? 10 Dead Franchises Due for Another Shot
Hello, and welcome back to Second Chances. Now, normally this column is all about talking about something that deserves another chance to shine, whether movie, album, game, or even vacation spot. However, in light of my first project with Braindamage Games (follow my girlfriend & my studio's progress here), I decided to broaden my scope this time. See, there are plenty of holes in game libraries these days due to established franchises just... stopping. A healthy gamer can't survive on shooters alone. As the studio begins work on something to fill a void left behind by a dead IP, I decided I wanted to take a moment to give my take on dormant franchises that deserve another chance on the sales charts.

Ten Video Games That Mock You for Playing on Easy Mode
Some video games are incredibly difficult. So difficult to the point that sometimes we throw our controllers on the floor in disgust. To add insult to injury, there are some video games that mock you. Whether it's because you died repeatedly, or chose an easier difficulty setting, these games found a way to get under your skin. Although game developers probably used this tactic to encourage gamers to play on a more difficult setting, it can still be demeaning and embarrassing. Here are ten video games that mock you for playing on easy mode.

Play Ball?: The Sad State of Sports Games
As one can surmise from my years' worth of writing on the subject, I am a devout gamer. Much like my taste in movies and music, I can find something to like in absolutely every game genre. Even though I love getting wrapped up in an engrossing story or getting thrown into an open world that goes off in every direction, sometimes I just want the simple pleasure that comes from sports competition. Having completed writing my third year's worth of reviews for the "Defunct Games Golf Club" (to be posted beginning this spring), I couldn't help but look at the state of sports video games now compared to the past and be upset.

Why Do Some Gamers Grow Bored Of Gaming?
It seems that whenever you find a social media group centered around gaming, it’ll only take a few days before you run into one of those posts where you have a person asking if others have lost their passion for gaming too or if you can become too old for the hobby.

'GTA V' Becomes an Unlikely Mentor for Artificial Intelligence; Will Teach Self-Driving Cars to Prevent Obstacles
Who said video games are a waste of time? Actually, nobody says that now unless it’s a disgruntled parent with an academically weak son punching joystick buttons 25 hours a day; borrowing one hour from the next day. Sorry to begin with such a weak unoriginal opening statement. But to say, Grand Theft Auto 5 of all games will lead the frontier for A.I is just another dazzling look at Terminator's Skynet. Known to the incessantly complaining & touchy world of 2016 as a violent, immature and sexually suggestive video game, the hope of self-driving cars lies in the hands of Rockstar’s flamboyant ride GTA V. For the record, I have no problems with GTA V. It is what it is. It’s not like anybody expects a deep philosophical 'Terrence Malick' style narrative game about the video game industry sucking the life outta 12 year olds and pushing materialism as the new age God. Rockstar is bloody awesome and not just for GTA series, I’m speaking about their role as a publisher of L.A Noire. Personally speaking, the making of L.A Noire is the Apocalypse Now equivalent of video games and I hope to write in detail about it someday.

Disney Was Working on an Adventure Theme Park Inspired by the 90s Video Game 'Myst'
Remember the popular fiddly trial and error 3D puzzle video game Myst created by brothers Robyn and Rand Miller. Yeah, the one that was inspired by text games like Zork and science fiction literature that involved portals like The Chronicles of Narnia and Jules Verne’s The Mysterious Island. Yes, we’re talking about the game that was one of the greatest selling titles at a time when consoles had no hard disks and technical limitations were so many. The Making of Myst is in itself a biblical relic of a by-gone video game era. Myst imparted new trends into the glossary of video games. So, it’s only apparent that Disney was hell-bent on creating a ‘Myst Island’ theme park given its popularity, critical acclaim and cult status. Creator Rand Miller appeared for an interview with The AV Club, one of my darling sites on the internet that doesn’t write just for the sake of writing and home to my favorite critic, Ignatiy Vishnevetsky.

Remember How Ubisoft Is Facing A Hostile Takeover? Well It Might Be Time To Worry About 'Assassin's Creed'
It wasn't long ago we heard #Vivendi was engaging in a hostile takeover of #Gameloft, resulting in Gameloft founders the Guillemot family selling their stake in their company to the mass media conglomerate. But the acquisition is not over yet for the Guillemots, with Vivendi having increased its shares in Ubisoft to 25.15 percent, giving it a controlling stake and voting rights for the French video game publishers.

Is 'Dark Souls', 'Armored Core' and 'Bloodborne' Developer From Software About to Release a Game in 2017?
When it comes to games, Hidetaka Miyazaki is a genius among them. However, he isn't alone thanks to #Bloodborne producers Teruyuki Toriyama and Masaaki Yamagiwa. When it comes to 2017, we can only begin to wonder what the teams at From Software have begun to prepare for. With large franchises such as Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, and even #Armored Core under their belts, it's only a wonder what the developers could be up to.
