Snowy mountain peaks overlooked the tiny village of Cliffbottom that had sprung up by the Wathwend River, a waterway that meandered between the vast Snowmane Mountains to the sea. It was a small community of Halfling and Gnome farmers and merchants attracted by the traffic in spices that had grown as trade with the distant Hmomshai Empire to the South flourished. A small port on the winding river where farmers could bring their crops to trade for spices brought by ships bound for cities of the North, Cliffbottom had been built just inland from the coast on the river delta as part of the expanding colonies of the Duchy of Vairone, in a forested wilderness that was thought to be uninhabited virgin territory. The Vaironese settlers had no idea that the river they called the Wathwend was the Sacred Road used by the spirits of the dead to go to the Island of the Dead. They could not know that the river was bathed in to cleanse the soul of sins, that the trees they had cleared from the river bank were the reincarnated chieftains of a hundred generations of savage human tribesmen, and they were not expecting the barbarian warriors to be willing to die to purify their holy river of the taint of civilisation.

Why is Escape From Tarkov Such a Good Streaming Game?
Tarkov is a strange anomaly in the gaming universe. For something touted as being so difficult, complicated, and requiring material outside of the game to be successful, you’d think that level of commitment wouldn’t be entertaining to watch, or at the very least, confusing for those tuning in. But surprisingly, the game does well on YouTube and especially on Twitch. There is a dedicated following for this game on the platform and the people who not only play it, but those who watch it are usually long-time veterans of the game. Sure, there are lots of new people who jump into chat and are curious about the game, but for the most part, if you play Tarkov at all, you also will find yourself watching it too. And this game holds its own on the platform. Normally sitting at around 30-50k concurrent viewers. Recently there has been a massive increase in viewership because Tarkov had Twitch drops on, which allowed you to earn in-game items by watching streamers, but we’ll talk more about that later. But my main question around this game and the following it has online, is what makes Tarkov such a compelling and arguably perfect streaming video game? Is it the game itself? The memes? Tarkov's New Armor System is Both Complex and Interesting
So today we are going to be talking about the new armor system in Escape From Tarkov. But I want to mention early on that this will not be about the science of the new system and whether it’s working as intended. More so just talking about how the armor system has impacted the game from all angles. Building armor and kits associated with it, fighting, and how the new plates system allows for some interesting sneaky plays. It was something that we’ve known about for a long time, and while it isn’t the fully customizable chest rigs that were teased many moons ago, this is the next best thing for sure. After playing for about a week, looking at a lot of the armors and different available soft armors and plates that are in the game, the system itself is much more complex than what it was previously. Whether or not that will be a benefit or determent to the game we will have to keep playing and give a better verdict later in the wipe. But for now, what I have seen firsthand is that the whole system allows for much more flexibility in regard to how you construct your armors. There wasn’t any real wiggle room with making one type of armor have a different material. But now, that possibility is in the game. Which might create some sneaky situations where you are running previously known low-tier armor but now have powerful plates in it. There are so many layers to this system that we can talk about, so let’s get into it.
