Super Animal Royale Review

Super Animal Royale is a terrible game for me

Super Animal Royale is a terrible game for me. To save myself from having to explain how many times I have landed on an island and been killed by a cat that looked suspiciously like my childhood pet, I thought I would get it out at the top. As I drag it across the Royale island, I feel PTSD. I will find the cat and fire a few hundred rounds at its adorable face. Super Animal Royale transformed me into a wild predator, hunting for prey. They're all better than I. Super Animal Royale is a terrible game for me.

You can have a good laugh about the fact that 'game journalists are bad at games' on any of your forums, but I'm being honest with you as always. My closest to Victory is 6th. That's me likely hiding in a quiet corner, waiting for certain death, as I cower upon landing. The result of Nintendo throwing a 100-player map into Animal Crossing is Super Animal Royale. While you can be good at the game, it's easy to get sucked at Animal Royale. You're left to your own devices once you land. You all have a great time.

Pixile developed Super Animal Royale. It was released on Steam Early Access in December 2020. The game then arrived in Xbox Game Preview on June 1. This is where I began my journey with the game. I have been jumping in and playing, not knowing if I would actually sit down to play it properly when it arrived on PS4. Here I am. I'm still getting my shin kicked by some of the most adorable enemies you will ever face. Except if you have a particular thing for the Helghast.

It's hard to believe that this is a royale, as it doesn’t fit the formula. It's a top-down twin-stick shooter with a dazzling array of colors. This was an experiment in Fortnite's formula of customization and child-friendly murderings. However, it's a good investment that pays off. This crossover appeals to the popularity and desire to dress up cute animals. I am not bitter. It's not me.

A story is not a very important aspect of Royale (except for the Jonesy saga in Fortnite). It is true that there is a story, but it is not present here. There is an aspect of Animal Royale that is unique.

The Research Lab lets you grow your own animals using animal DNA and Super Serum vials. This allows you to unlock new breeds. The game will start with three Super Animals: a Fox, Bear, and Skullcat. As you play the game, you will be able access Tigers and Dogs as well as all sorts of creatures that you can take to the field. This is the only way you can unlock new characters. This Royale's Battle Pass 'Animal Pass' allows you to unlock a wide range of cosmetics. You can also purchase tickets in the in-game store (the game currency you can use to buy the Animal Pass), but you cannot do much else. It is possible to unlock pets for your animals, which are little companions that can follow you around the map. Super Animal Royale is the place to go if you ever dreamed of having a pet.

The game is cute, though. You'll hear a variety of puns, including "You're dead" written in large letters. You might recognize the airport lobby with its bird-serving flight attendant and We're PAWSITIVE? It's hard to not smile as you race around the island trying not to get caught in the gas, or run over by a player using a hamster ball. This is one of two modes of transportation available. The other is an emu which can attack you with its beak if you're on it's back. The holding area is a theme park with no attractions, and is dedicated to the punny titles like Pie of the Tiger. Now you know what the game is. It's filled with animal puns, and it's even cuter than a puppy in a pillow factory covered with marshmallows.

Being a Royale "veteran" doesn't give you much help in Animal Royale. You'll be able to plan where you want to go to save gas, and how to stock up quickly and efficiently. But this is a whole new world when your left trigger is not used for aiming, but to do a forward roll. It's now on the right-stick. Twin stick shooting a Royale can be quite interesting, especially if you are used to one particular play style. Although it is difficult to grasp, the forward roll can be very useful when you want to avoid attacks or move closer to the circle.
