When I played this game starting a few days ago I was unfamiliar with the Civilization franchise. I'll be honest with you guys - I knew of the strategy that was involved with the game but I wasn't aware of how slow paced the turns would be and how patient you would have to be with the gameplay. So I started off with the Chinese empire of Qin Shi Huang and I did that by selecting the random empire or random civilization to start off with. I looked through every single leader of their empires of the different countries and civilizations. While I was amused that Gandhi was the emperor of India, I went ahead and chose the randomizer and I got the empire of China in about 4000 BC is where it started.

So I'll be honest with you guys, I did not know how the gameplay would go, I did not know how it would fare, but in the few hours that I played this game I made friends with everybody that I came across and I tried to be open and fair with everybody except the invading Barbarians. I made sure to attack the scouts and made sure that I protected my cities with the warrior divisions that I had and I was able to build 2 settlements before I did this review.

Now this game is very easy to pick up in my experience. Some of the things can get overwhelming depending on how detailed you want to go into it. It can be as surface level or as detailed as you want it to be. For me, I like things that I can pick up easily and I don't mind having a learning curve, but as long as it's not a steep learning curve. If it's a 90° learning curve then I have a difficult time with that, but if it's only at a 35° angle then I can deal with it better; I can deal with it better than I can if it was like “Okay, you're used to playing action games where you just pick up and play and shoot the enemies or if you're used to playing cozy games where you farm and raise animals and talk to people and get married and so on and so forth.” But with this game you have to do a little bit of everything in order to make sure your civilization survives.

So, in my gameplay, I was able to encounter Gandhi, I was able to encounter Saladin, and I was able to count encounter the Viking leader of Norway. I opened trade routes, I opened up to where I could receive gifts from them, and at one point I had an open border with Norway. So far my game was good and I was able to level up, build monuments, discover Mount Kilimanjaro, and discover a good portion of the map.

So from my playthrough I went through 41 turns and you have a limited amount of turns. For me I was in 41 out of 500 turns in 2400 BC and at that point I had two warrior units, 2 settlements, and open trade routes with India, Norway, and the Middle East. So as far as what I think about this game, I think it's very good. I haven't played the previous Civilization games and I know there's a Civilization VII that is out right now as of this writing that you can pick it up on Steam.

It kind of plays like a mobile game, like one of those idle mobile games and that's not a bad thing. This game is definitely good if you want something that is more laid back, low energy but a high mental rate when it comes to thinking about your next move and your next strategy. I would definitely recommend this game to those people who have not played a game like this before like I said earlier it was easy to pick up the controls are very fluid and very user friendly and I'm looking forward to Civilization VII.
