Oilers One Win Away from Stanley Cup Final After Big Game 4 Victory.
The final score Tuesday night was 4-1
The Edmonton Oilers are just one win away from reaching the Stanley Cup Final after another strong performance at home. On Tuesday night, they beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final. The victory gave the Oilers a 3-1 series lead, putting them in a great position to move on.
Leon Draisaitl and Corey Perry each had a goal and an assist, both scoring on the power play. Kasperi Kapanen and Adam Henrique added empty-net goals late in the third period to seal the win. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid both chipped in with two assists, continuing their strong playoff performances.
After losing Game 1 in Dallas due to a tough third-period collapse, the Oilers have bounced back with three straight wins. Tuesday’s game showed once again how dangerous they are when they find their rhythm.
Stuart Skinner had another solid night in goal for Edmonton. He made 28 saves and helped keep the Stars from building any momentum. This win also continued an impressive trend for the Oilers — they are now 9-0 in Game 4s over the past three playoff seasons.
The Stars, who Edmonton also knocked out in last year’s Western Final, are now on the edge of elimination. Jason Robertson scored the only goal for Dallas, which came on the power play in the second period. Jake Oettinger made 29 saves in the loss and now has a 5-11 record in his career during Western Final games.
The game began with Dallas applying heavy pressure. But after surviving the early attack, the Oilers struck first. With a power play midway through the opening period, Nugent-Hopkins sent a pass to Draisaitl, who fired a one-timer past Oettinger for his seventh goal of the playoffs.
That goal continued a concerning trend for Dallas. They have now been outscored 10-0 in the first periods of road games during this year’s playoffs.
There was a scare for Edmonton in the first period when forward Zach Hyman left the game after taking a hard hit from Mason Marchment. He did not return due to an upper-body injury, and his status for Game 5 is unclear.
Dallas tied the game 1-1 early in the second on a smooth power-play goal. Robertson scored his second goal in as many games with a quick shot into the top corner of the net. But the Oilers answered back just a few minutes later. Another power play gave them the lead again, with Nugent-Hopkins setting up Perry for an easy tap-in goal.
That assist gave Nugent-Hopkins his fourth straight game with multiple points — something no one had done in a conference final in 35 years. He also became the first Oiler since Wayne Gretzky to have nine or more points in the first four games of a conference final. That puts him in legendary company.
Corey Perry’s goal was also a special one. At 40 years old, he became just the fifth player aged 40 or older to score in a conference final.
In the third period, the Oilers shut things down defensively and didn’t give Dallas many chances. Kapanen and Henrique added empty-net goals in the final minutes to put the game out of reach.
There were a few lineup changes for both teams. Roope Hintz returned for the Stars after missing Game 3 due to a foot injury. Viktor Arvidsson played for the Oilers, replacing Connor Brown, who was hurt in the last game. Goalie Calvin Pickard was back on the bench as Skinner’s backup after recovering from an injury. Pickard is undefeated in the playoffs so far.
Game 5 will take place on Thursday in Dallas. The Oilers will have a chance to close out the series and move on to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006. With the way they’ve been playing, fans in Edmonton have every reason to believe that this could finally be the year their team makes a deep run to the top.

The Oilers are looking good! Draisaitl and Perry's power-play goals were clutch. Skinner was solid in net. It's crazy they're 9-0 in Game 4s. Do you think the Stars can stage a comeback or is this series pretty much over? The Stars' early pressure didn't pay off. Losing 10-0 in first periods of road games is rough. Hyman's injury is a concern. How will the Oilers adjust if he misses time?
