Counter-Strike is dying, and We Should Let it
It has been two decades since the first Counter-Strike was released to our desktops and with it came two decades of high octane fast-paced competitive gaming. With four installments over the last 20 odd years, it quickly grew a cult-like following and with becoming one of the most popular E-sports games. With good reason too, the adrenaline rush and satisfaction you get from flicking heads and clutching a 1v5 round is nonpareil. So much so that some folks can spend hours watching other people play. Witnessing the skill of players like shroud or s1mple can give you that same heart-racing experience as playing yourself.

Nothing Ever Goes Wrong In DnD...
We had a bit of a tough session last time, so I think I’ll give the party a break. Instead of another dungeon crawl that ends with an adult red dragon, maybe a nice night in the tavern. It was Dwarfish Independence Day, according to my notes that I wrote ages ago, so I think a nice, easy session where the players can enjoy the festivities would be fun.

Memories of the Original Xbox
I can still remember sitting at work when a news report announced the impending release of the PlayStation 2 and rumours of a new console under development from Microsoft. The eponymous ‘Xbox’ sounded more akin to a manufacturer's code name rather than the given name of what would become a massively successful gaming institution.

How I splatted my way to Inner Peace
“Call me when you’re on your break” His text said. I call my husband as my break begins and he tells me he’s about to buy a Nintendo Switch. Before games me scoffs” We already have more than one Xbox and a PlayStation”. My husband builds his case for purchasing a Switch by telling me it’s a gaming system that all 4 of our children can play simultaneously. Multiplayer games are already in his hands. After he tells me what it’s on sale for, I tell him to go for it but I’m not convinced it’s a smart buy. Oh, how wrong I was.

About the same time that bans were issued in New York, betting was banned in the United States. Storytelling in Gaming Industry
Back in 2002, when I played Mafia 1 for the first time, it was one of those unique games with a movie-like story. Around the same time, we had multiple story-driven game launching. Still, most of the games were action or activity-based.

Shepard-Commander: It's Time for Mass Effect
“Shepard-Commander!” The mere thought of those two words puts a smile on my face and causes my fingers to twitch, longing to feel the controller around my fingertips as my heart skips a beat in pure fangirl excitement. With these words in my head - I know the score. I know it’s time to play Mass Effect again. I take a breath. The galaxy needs saving. It’s all up to me. Wait for me, Kaidan, my love. Liara, don’t be sad. I open my gaming laptop and prepare to start another journey as Commander Shepard. I start the game, hear the music. I’m awed and excited, as if it’s my first time all over again, no matter how many times I play.
