According to a senior state government official, the Telangana state government is developing new laws for online and fantasy games that would encourage self-regulation and game creation in the state.

According to a senior state government official, the Telangana state government is developing new laws for online and fantasy games that would encourage self-regulation and game creation in the state.
Telangana's senior secretary for industry, commerce, and information technology, Jayesh Ranjan, stated that the current scenario involving fantasy sports is a bit complex and difficult, but the state government is proposing new laws to make it a model for other states.
Telangana has had difficulties in the past. Instead of the previous legislation, Jayesh Ranjan has personally taken on the duty of obtaining a very simple and industry-friendly rule. He has conferred with everyone in the industry.
Everyone has been made aware of the regulation initiative that they have devised. Ranjan stated during a seminar hosted by the Indian Fantasy Sports Federation that he is ready to implement this progressive law in his state (FIFS).
He stated that the present laws and restrictions in Telangana are mostly supported by the police department due to their worries about how online games are conducted.
They have shared the new restrictions they created with the police department. They are involved in every step of the process. Only once they are completely pleased would they elevate them to a new level in front of their ministers, legal department cabinets, and so on.
It may take time, but Jayesh Ranjan can guarantee you that the Telangana regulation would encourage not just self-regulation but also development. He is sure that this will serve as a model for other states, according to Ranjan.
Rameesh Kailasam elaborated the matter
According to Indiatech CEO Rameesh Kailasam, a succession of court judgments have thoroughly defined and granted the legality of online gaming, including fantasy sports. Some states, however, such as Telangana and Assam, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Nagaland. This sort of internet gambling is not permitted if money is involved.
Bimal Jhulka, FSRA president and retired NIC official, stated that fantasy sports are a thriving sector in India. It has exceeded the United States in terms of customers, with 120 million, and has given 300 billion rupees to the national treasury.
According to reports, the fantasy sports industry has the potential to provide Rs 13.5 billion to the national budget through taxes, create 12,000 employment, and attract Rs 10 billion in foreign direct investment.
Anmitar, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Law Commission, stated that the distinction between gambling and games is very thin: any game may become a game, and the game is not good.
Gambling should be prohibited. Online gaming and fantasy sports are not without flaws. They have become addictive to the younger generation. Several internet frauds operate under the guise of online gaming. Some games have recently incited suicide, according to Mittal.
According to him, the Law Commission is redefining cyberspace in response to a request presented to the government addressing online gaming.
Under terms of Fantasy Sports, UP., they suggest in the new legislation that a regulatory body be established because there is no self-regulatory agency or ability to oversee such activities. The Internet knows no boundaries. In India, operators must be licensed. Fantasy sports are not the same as internet games. Mittal believes that skill games should be developed.
According to Deepak Bagla, director and CEO of Invest India, once 5G services are provided in India, online gaming is likely to skyrocket.
