How to Unlock the Ice Climbing Axe in Battlefield 6

The Guide of How to Unlock the Ice Climbing Axe in Battlefield 6

By Smsankar GoswamiPublished about a month ago 3 min read

The Winter Offensive Bonus Path is a special seasonal track inside Battlefield 6. It runs for a short time and puts winter-themed rewards behind tiers you unlock by earning points. The Ice Climbing Axe sits at Tier 11 and is free to get once you reach that tier. Play the events and weekly challenges, and you will move up the path.

Where to find the Bonus Path

Open your Battle Pass tab in the game and look for the Winter Offensive. If the path is live, it shows up alongside the normal pass. You do not need to buy premium to get the Axe because it is a free reward. Keep an eye on the Battle Pass screen so you can track what challenges give the most points.

How to earn the points you need

Points come from three places: weekly challenges, event tasks, and normal multiplayer matches. Weekly challenges might ask for a number of kills or for holding objectives. Event tasks are time-limited and often give more points. Playing multiplayer games and hitting performance milestones also adds points. Pick the tasks that give the best point return and focus on them first.

Hitting Tier 11

Set small goals for each session. Aim to finish the highest-value challenge you can in an hour. If you need to move through tiers fast, join modes that give consistent points, such as Conquest or Team Deathmatch. Group up with friends to speed up event tasks that require team work. Once the tier progress bar reaches the needed level for Tier 11, the Ice Climbing Axe will be unlocked in your loadout.

Getting used to the Axe

When you first get the Axe, take it to a safe space to practice. The Battlefield 6 Bot Lobby is perfect for this. In the Bot Lobby you can test climbing lines, feel how the Axe moves you up rock faces, and learn which surfaces let you climb. Spend a few rounds there before you try climbing in a real match.

Tactical uses of the Axe

Use the Ice Climbing Axe to surprise enemies from above. You can climb cliffs or ledges that most players ignore and then drop down on an objective point. If a fight is going bad, climb up and break line of sight to regroup. The Axe also helps reach hidden routes to capture points or to avoid common sightlines. Keep moving after you climb; standing still on a ledge makes you an easy target.

Smart ways to earn points quickly

Play during event weeks that boost reward points. If the game runs double-point events on certain days, try to play then. Modes like Conquest and larger objective matches often net more points than quick solo games. Teaming with friends reduces the time you spend hunting objectives alone and makes it easier to finish event tasks. Finally, use the cheap Battlefield 6 Bot Lobby to rehearse difficult tasks so you can finish them faster in real matches.

Where the Axe shines in competitive play

On maps with vertical zones, the Axe gives a real edge. Climb to unexpected spots to secure objective flanks. Use it to hold a high angle so you can see enemy movement and call it out to teammates. Also, the Axe is useful in creative play: push new lines on the map and force enemy teams to change their routes.

The Winter Offensive is time-limited, but the event runs through late December 2025, so don't worry, you have room to earn the Axe without rushing.
