As an king time fan of the God of war franchise, I’ve got to say I was pretty pumped for the new game, after a long time since the first instalment in the Norse series. The first game left a lot of questions open, one thing we knew for certain was that we would meet there pretty early on in the game if not the very beginning. So let’s get down to what I found in my experience.
First of playing on ps4 pro on 4K smart tv, graphics were fantastic regardless. The games gets you up to speed fairly quickly, infact every mission I did felt quick. I figured fining Tyr would take a lot longer than it actually did, so I felt a little ripped of at how easy it was even on a normal difficulty.
The combat system wasn’t perfect I felt taking away aspects like the quick turn made the game tedious bit difficult.
And the guardians that are the side bosses seemed glitched to me, I spent 10 min continuing to beat its ass after it’s health had depleted and never managed to beat a one. Odd considering. Maybe the Valkyrie’s in the first were just really easy in comparison on every difficultie. Or maybe it was losing my quick turn. Or I just havnt played the game anywhere near enough to fully grasp the combat system..moving on
I found the story to be predictable in most places. Tyr being Oden. I saw that coming fairly quickly. I picked it when oxen went to see kratos during his time with when Loki was on Asgard. It made sense, they acted like the same persons if you have played the game and disagree take another look on your next play through at how similar the two are.
The biggest thing for me was the idea that kratos was meant to die. I figured by what was on the wall that Loki would use his magic and save his soul for another time or something, but they averted his demise and I felt it lead the game to a very anticlimactic endings considering it was meant to be the last god of war game.
On another note, I really enjoyed a lot of the side quests, freeing Freya from what kept her bound, broks funeral.
That is one thing I can say for the game, they developed brok and sindri’s story very well. I hope to see sindri again. Though I don’t know if he will have forgiveness or revenge in his heart..
Where will they go from here
After destroying Asgard, it is said that it was the last god of war. How about some dlc then with some continuation. A lot of games are doing that these days, rather than create a new game new map new story, the attempt to create a continuation, that is what I hope for atleast. One where you play at Loki, one as kratos. Maybe often comes back takes things back in time “this feels familiar” says Thor. Always wondered about that frozen lightning. Maybe a dwarf of war game, you know about sindi’s revenge. Maybe then kratos can get the desth I wanted for him. Just saying.
Enough said.
All in all god of war was a fantastic game regardless of the problems I faced. Ether the game needs an update or 3 as most do or it was on my poor gamining ability. We all have our games that we are terrible at. I wouldn’t say that game would make some one a better parent or anything but the lessons are real. And so are the problems.
