Global School of Chess is now Debsie
Hi, there from Adhip, the former CMO and founder of GSC and now the founder of Debsie
Yep. It’s official.
Global School of Chess is now Debsie.
And before you think this is just a “new logo, new colors” kind of change—nope. This is bigger than that. This is the name catching up to what the platform has already become… and where it’s headed next.
Let me walk you through it in a simple way.
So… why the change?
To be honest, we started Global School of Chess as a proof of concept - do parents like to experience a different way of learning for their children, if it brought results.
Since, for a new startup, opening multiple courses can bring disaster, we started with one focus.
As such, Global School of Chess started with one focus: chess.
But the truth is, chess was never the end goal.
Chess was the starting point. The training ground. The place where kids learned how to think better, stay calm, plan ahead, and bounce back after mistakes.
Over time, something interesting happened.
Families didn’t just say, “My child is playing better chess.”
They said things like, “My child is focusing better.”
“My child is more patient.”
“My child thinks before acting.”
“My child is more confident.”
That’s when it became clear: this was not only about a game.
It was about building the child.
The old name started to feel too small
While, our aim was always to change learning altogether, we made a mistake. We didn't think through the naming. We just wanted to get the proof of concept tested so badly, that we chose a name that couldn't grow alongside us.
“Global School of Chess” is a great name… if the platform is only chess.
But the platform started growing beyond that.
The same teaching style that worked in chess—clear steps, simple explanations, strong basics, steady progress—started to fit other skills too.
At that point, the name began to box the platform in.
It sounded like a one-subject academy.
But the vision was becoming bigger than one subject.
So we needed a name that could grow with the vision.
That name is Debsie.
What is Debsie, really?
Debsie is the new home for everything we are building.
Think of Debsie like this: chess stays, but it becomes one of the elements — not the ceiling.
Debsie is designed to be a modern learning platform where kids don’t just “study.” They actually build skills in a way that feels clear, fun, and rewarding.
It’s built for the future, not the old-school “memorize and forget” style of learning.
Quick question: does this mean chess is gone?
Not at all.
Chess is still here. Stronger than ever.
Same mission. Same standards. Same focus on real improvement.
If you joined Global School of Chess for chess classes, you’re not losing anything. You’re gaining more.
This is not a reset.
It’s an upgrade.
What stays exactly the same
A lot of things.
The biggest one is the learning philosophy: real skill comes from strong fundamentals and steady practice.
That doesn’t change.
The focus on structure, discipline, and clear progress doesn’t change.
The commitment to quality teaching doesn’t change.
If you liked how Global School of Chess taught—simple steps, real logic, no fluff—you’ll feel right at home with Debsie.
What gets better with Debsie
This is where things get exciting.
Debsie is not just a new name. It’s a bigger system.
The goal is to make learning feel smoother, clearer, and easier to stick with.
Because here’s the real problem most kids face: they don’t quit because they’re weak. They quit because learning feels confusing.
They don’t know what to do next.
They can’t see progress.
They don’t feel momentum.
So they lose interest.
Debsie is built to fix that.
Learning should feel like progress
One of the big ideas behind Debsie is simple: a child should be able to feel improvement.
Not once a year. Not after a huge exam.
But regularly.
Kids stay motivated when they can feel themselves getting better. When the steps are clear. When effort leads to a visible win.
Debsie is being built to make progress easier to see and easier to enjoy.
Why parents will love this shift
Let’s be honest: every parent wants results.
But you also want your child to stay consistent. Because consistency is the real superpower.
A child who learns consistently will beat a child who learns “only when motivated.” Every time.
Debsie is being shaped around that idea. It’s made to help kids stick with learning without constant pushing, nagging, or pressure at home.
Because when the learning system is designed well, the child doesn’t need to be forced. They naturally want to continue.
Why students will love it too
Students don’t want lectures.
They want a feeling of “I get it.”
They want that moment where things click. Where they feel smart. Where they feel proud.
Debsie is designed to create more of those moments.
It’s meant to feel like a place that belongs to their growth, not a boring classroom vibe.
And yes—chess helps create that. But now the platform can support more skill-building beyond chess too, using the same clear teaching style.
The simple truth
Global School of Chess is now Debsie because the vision outgrew the old name.
Chess is still an important element of what we teach, but we teach so much more - including STEM subjects, drawing, coding, languages etc.
But Debsie is the future.
And the future looks like learning that’s clear, structured, motivating, and actually enjoyable—while still being serious about real improvement.
Fun Trivia
Although we have redirected all the pages at Global School of Chess to Debsie, we still have the old pages indexed by Google and show up in search results. We don't know why. We tried telling Google. But, it's still there.
For example - https://gschess.com/chess-opening-strategies-for-beginners/ redirects to https://debsie.com/chess-opening-strategies-for-beginners/
However, both are visible on Google!
