I grew up playing video games since I was about 3-4 years old. I used to sit on my grandfather's lap and watch him play Civilization. I watched my dad play World of Warcraft and found my love for it. I played that along with Lord of the Rings Online.
What got me interested was the vast imagination one could have while playing these games. The graphics were extraordinary and so beautiful; you could get lost in them for days on end. Weeks or even months on end. They're like another world specifically for the people who find enjoyment in them. It's somewhere you can be someone else completely without worrying.
Most people are very encouraging and accepting on the platforms. You still get the bullies as you do in real life, but you can just ignore and block them. In real life, you can't exactly do that. You still have to converse with them or you can avoid them the best you could.
Anyways, back on topic, gaming is a whole other universe you can either be completely yourself or someone entirely new. There's all types of games out there, any you could think of from farming to fighting. Relaxing games or ones that give you adrenaline or jump scares and terror. There's pretty much a genre for everyone out there, but not everyone enjoys it.
For me, videogames were an escape from reality growing up. I didn't have the best childhood. I wasn't a sociable person either so the friends I made online were my only friends. They were my family I didn't have and who I chose to be close to because I needed a way to escape what I was going through. The world I created was for me to be free from real life. Games were my haven and my rock when I needed it. My online friends were the people who supported me when I needed them.
They were the most sincere people I could have met. The most caring and I couldn't have asked for better ones. Most of them I have known for 6 years or more and I plan on meeting a couple of them soon. We have all video chatted and know each other's lives. It's a world I could easily say I couldn't live without.
Games are a world to clear your mind or release some anger that you have built up. It's a world to let things go or to create scenarios that you've wanted to see made.
If you have never played one before, and I'm not talking about Solitaire or things like that. I'm talking about Call of Duty, Overwatch, or simple games like Stardew Valley. I suggest that you try one to see if you can understand what a lot of people mean when they talk about how happy they are.
People who enjoy military movies or shows, often like military based games. People who go for anime like games based on anime. There's a genre for whatever you can think of. There is. Go for it.
Now, I won't force you to play games. It's impossible to do so. I'm just suggesting you play one, see how you like it. If not, that's completely okay. Everyone has their own opinion on things, not just videogames. Sometimes even I get tired of playing them or I don't like certain ones. It's just a preference.
Gaming is a form of socialization. You converse with people from different states, and even different countries. It's a very diverse system to interact with others more than going to school or work. You could even pick up a few words in different languages. I've learned how to ask someone how their day is in Dutch. The community gives you life.
