Overview

Another jewel of the Himalayas which is a favourite among the trekkers around the world is the Brahmatal Trek. Trek to Brahmatal, a lake where Lord Brahma is said to have meditated as per mythology is one of the few treks which are possible in the months of winter when most of the trekking routes are closed. Brahmatal trek is an easy to go winter trek offering almost all you can think of in a winter trek destination.

Brahmatal trek is a great winter option. The trail of this trek is entirely covered in snow and is paradise for snow lovers. The uneven terrain, the beautiful landscapes and sprawling forests and a mesmerizing view of the Himalayas. Never ending ridge lines, high altitude lakes, majestic peak views and fresh snow on the trail are compelling propositions for the Brahmatal winter trek.

During winter, weather normally remains clear and the panoramic beauty of the surroundings is unmatched. Adequate amount of snow is another reason that this is getting popular in recent years. In spring the trail is bountiful with Rhododendron blossoms while the last patches of snow start melting. Since Brahmatal hasnt attracted a lot of crowds, it is still majorly untouched and serene.

Short Itinerary

Feb 10 (Day -0) : BANGALORE TO RISHIKESH

Get flight flights from Bangalore Airport to Dehradun Airport & drive to Rishikesh - City Explore- Shopping & stay

Feb 11 - (Day 1) : RISHIKESH TO LOHAJUNG

Arrive early at Rishikesh city and drive to Lohajung (Altitude 7,611 feet) which will take approximately 9 to 10 hours (230 Km Hours). Breakfast and Lunch will be on the way at a roadside inn, including in charges. The route passes through Dev Prayag & Karna prayag. Arrive at your base camp, Lohajung by the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Lohajung.

Feb - 12 (Day 2) :- LOHAJUNG TO BEKALTAL

Today our trek begins from Lohajung market and we will move upwards to the Bekaltal (Altitude 9,875 ft.) passing through few villages, thick oak and rhododendron forests, water streams, bridges etc. After a short trek, spot Mundoli village on your left where you can fill your water bottles and take a little break. Today’s trek will take around 05 hours (6 km) to reach our campsite. The whole area gets covered in snow in winters, and the lake will be found partially frozen.

Feb - 13 (Day 3) :- BEKALTAL TO BRAHMATAL

Today our trek will start with Initial steep climb for an hour, which opens out to a meadow (today’s highest point 11,500 ft) from where begins a slow descent to Brahmatal lake campsite (Altitude 10,500 ft). Make sure that you fill your water bottles before starting the trek since this will be a long day. Due to snow it might take longer to reach the destination. Our Brahmatal campsite will be just 300 meters away from the lake.

Feb - 14 (Day 4) :- BRAHMATAL TO BRAHMATAL PEAK AND BACK

Today we will climb Brahmatal Peak Summit and will return back to the campsite at Brahmatal. The time taken to reach the Brahmatal summit (12,100 ft) is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. As you reach the summit, an entire panorama of mountains opens up offering splendid views of the mighty Himalayas especially Chaukhambha, Mandir, Mana, Nilgiri, Neelkanth, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Maitoli and mountains stretching all the way to the Panchachuli range.

Feb - 15 (Day 5) BRAHMATAL TO LOHAJUNG & LOHAJUNG TO RISHIKESH

Today we will descent back to Lohajung through the different forested trails passing by several mountain villages on the slopes which will take time around 3 hrs Trek. Descend will take less time and the day is not that exhaustive. We return back to Lohajung and have plenty of time and energy to share photographs among the group and celebrate our amazing trek.

Feb 16 (Day 6) LOHAJUNG TO RISHIKESH DRIVE

Drive from Lohajung to Rishikesh & Reach to Rishikesh around 5:30 PM & Stay at Rishikesh.

Feb 17(Day 7) : RISHIKESH TO BANGALORE

Drive to Dehradun Airport from Rishikesh & get flight to Bangalore
