Destiny 2 isn't a game that I have spent too much time on, but it is the main game for many of my friends.

They have frequently told me about some of its flaws when recently, I came across some information on a complete revamp of Destiny 2’s buildcrafting and modifiers.

In this post, I will talk about the changes coming to the game very soon.

Bungie’s Announcement

Bungie, the studio behind Destiny 2, recently announced a significant overhaul of the game’s buildcrafting system, which includes changes to armor mods, how champions are stunned, and the Match Game modifier.

The changes, which will be implemented in the upcoming Lightfall expansion, are expected to be a major topic of discussion in the community, as players weigh whether the new system is better than the current one.

Loadout System

One of the most substantial changes is the new Loadout system, which enables players to save up to 10 loadouts per character, labeled according to damage types, activity type, and more.

Players will be able to unlock the new Loadout system by progressing through levels of the new Guardian Rank system.

Additionally, the loadout system will also include the ability to save shaders and armor ornaments, which players had previously relied on third-party software to do.

Stun Abilities

Another major change is the addition of multiple ways to stun champions with abilities from different subclasses.

Currently, players have found the stun effects of champions to be inconsistent and have been limited to a specific range of weapons to effectively combat them.

In order to alleviate this pain point, Bungie is adding Champion-stunning capabilities to various subclass abilities.

For example, Overload champions will be stunned by the Arc Jolt effect, the Stasis Slow effect, and the Void Suppression effect.

But, Barrier champions will be stunned by attacks made while the player has the Solar Radiant buff, Void Volatile Rounds, or an unannounced Strand effect.

Seasonal Artifact Changes

Additionally, changes to the way the Seasonal Artifact works will make using the anti-Champion perks much less fussy. Once unlocked, the perks will be equipped for that type of weapon, allowing for more flexibility in combat.

Summary and Takeaways

Overall, the changes announced by Bungie are expected to be both huge and controversial in the community, but also an exciting refresh for the five-year-old looter shooter.

While not all previous builds will be able to be recreated one-to-one, the system has been changed enough to open up new possibilities with new mods and ability combinations.

As with any change of this size to a live service game, players will likely be hesitant about whether the new system is better than the old one, but it’s clear that Bungie is making a significant effort to address some of the most significant pain points in the game.
