  • Display ads: These are the ads that appear next to your video, above the video suggestions list, and below the video player.
  • Overlay ads: These are semi-transparent ads that appear on the lower 20% of your video.
  • Skippable video ads: These are ads that play before, during, or after your video. Viewers can skip these ads after five seconds.
  • Non-skippable video ads: These are ads that play before, during, or after your video. Viewers can't skip these ads.

2. Channel Memberships

Channel memberships allow viewers to support your channel with monthly payments in exchange for perks such as exclusive content, badges, and emojis. In order to enable channel memberships, you must have at least 30,000 subscribers.

3. Super Chat and Super Stickers

Super Chat and Super Stickers allow viewers to pay to have their messages highlighted in chat during live streams. Super Stickers are animated images that viewers can purchase and send in chat. In order to enable Super Chat and Super Stickers, you must have at least 1,000 subscribers.

4. Merchandise Sales

You can also sell merchandise directly through your YouTube channel using the YouTube Merchandise Shelf. This allows viewers to purchase items such as t-shirts, hats, and mugs without leaving the platform. In order to enable the Merchandise Shelf, you must have at least 10,000 subscribers.

5. Sponsorships

Sponsorships are partnerships between creators and brands. Creators can earn money by promoting a brand's product or service in their videos. However, it's important to disclose sponsored content to your audience to remain transparent.

How Much Money Can You Make on YouTube?

The amount of money you can make on YouTube varies depending on several factors. These include:

  • The number of views your videos receive
  • The types of ads enabled on your videos
  • The type of content you create
  • Your audience demographics

YouTube pays creators based on a CPM (cost per thousand) basis. This means you earn a certain amount of money per thousand views on your videos. The amount you earn can range from a few cents to several dollars per thousand views.
