People who consume paprika often notice that it tastes different each time. There is a reason one container of paprika tastes almost sweet while another tastes bold and smoky. The answer goes back to the specific peppers used. The flavor is shaped by:

  • Freshness because paprika loses flavor over time
  • Paprika is best used within 2–3 years to retain flavor
