The story of the Isra and Mi'raj is one of the most significant events in Islamic history, and it is celebrated by Muslims worldwide. It is a miraculous journey undertaken by the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and then on to the heavens, where he met with several prophets, including Moses, Abraham, and Jesus, and then returned to Mecca.

The story of the Isra and Mi'raj is not mentioned in the Qur'an but is recorded in the hadith, which are the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad as reported by his companions. The story is believed to have occurred in the year 621 CE, which is known as the Year of Sorrow for the Prophet, as it was the year his beloved wife Khadijah and his uncle Abu Talib passed away.

The story of the Isra and Mi'raj begins with the Prophet Muhammad being carried on a winged creature called Buraq from Mecca to Jerusalem, which is known as the Night Journey (Isra). This journey is said to have taken place over a single night, and the Prophet was accompanied by the angel Jibril (Gabriel).

The journey began at the Kaaba, the holiest site in Islam, where the Prophet Muhammad mounted Buraq. The creature is said to have had the body of a horse and the face of a woman, with wings that spanned the distance between its legs.

Buraq carried the Prophet to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which is the third holiest site in Islam. Upon arriving there, the Prophet Muhammad dismounted and led the other prophets, including Moses, Abraham, and Jesus, in prayer. He then ascended to the heavens (Mi'raj), accompanied by the angel Jibril.

The journey through the heavens is described in great detail in Islamic tradition, with the Prophet Muhammad passing through the seven heavens and meeting with several prophets along the way.

Muhammad and Jibrīl enter the first heaven and proceed through all seven levels until they reach the throne of Allah(God). Along the way they meet the prophets Adam, Yaḥyā (John), ʿĪsā (Jesus), Yūsuf (Joseph), Idrīs, Hārūn (Aaron), Mūsā (Moses), and Ibrāhīm (Abraham) and visit hell and paradise.

At the highest level, the Prophet Muhammad met with Allah (God), who gave him the last few verses of Surah Bakarah(Chapter Cow) and instructions like the five daily prayers for Muslims to follow in their daily life

After receiving these revelations and teachings, the Prophet Muhammad returned to Jerusalem and then to Mecca on the same night. When he returned to Mecca, he was met with disbelief and skepticism by many of the Meccans, who were surprised by his claims of visiting Jerusalem and the heavens in one night.

However, the Prophet's closest companions and followers believed in the miraculous nature of his journey and were strengthened in their faith. The story of the Isra and Mi'raj is a testament to the Prophet Muhammad's prophethood and his importance in Islam.

The story of the Isra and Mi'raj is a significant event in Islamic history, and it is celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The Prophet Muhammad's journey through the heavens is a miraculous event that highlights his leadership and prophethood, and his encounters with various prophets and messengers convey important teachings and messages.
