Larry Page, University of Michigan Commencement Address, 2009: "You know what it's like to wake up in the middle of the night with a vivid dream? And you know that if you don't have a pencil and pad by the bed, it will be completely gone by the next morning. Sometimes it's important to wake up and stop dreaming. When a really great dream shows up, grab it. "
We have spoken before about how bad dreams most often mean good outcomes, a matter of opposites. Some symbols in dreams can be totally perplexing. What, for example, would dreaming of a band-aid on a wound have to do hypocrites in the workplace? Or a boat hook with plotters at with bad intentions? There might be some sort of connection back in time, but experience has taught us not to wonder why - but simply to heed what the omen has proven to us over time. By 'over time' the Ancient Path means many centuries of dream gathering, notation and interpretation.
G:
Gaff – To dream of a gaff (a boat hook) is to be warned that you will shortly be the victim of a group of plotters who plan serious harm.
Gallows – Dreaming of gallows, or of someone hanging on gallows, is a bad omen that portends disaster or death, your own or that of a close friend or relative.
Gambling – Dreaming of a gambling house or of gamblers at play (unless you are re-dreaming a weekend at Vegas) is a sign that many around you have treacherous intentions.
Game – As in hunted animals being brought home to the table, are a sign of pleasure and comfort ahead.
Games – As in organized play of any kind (from stick ball to the super bowl) are omens of potential disaster in business and personal affairs.
Gangrene – A painful separation from a loved one is ahead if you dream of a wounded arm or leg that is gangrenous.
Garbage – To see piles of garbage, or to dream of sweeping up garbage is a sign of marital separation or divorce. This could be bad, could be good.
Garden – An ill-kept garden is a sign of personal ruin. A well-kept and productive garden is a sign of pleasure and profit ahead.
Garlic – The sight of garlic in a dream foretells of troubles with a close relationship. If you should taste garlic in your dream, it is a sign of major issues with a loved one.
Garret – A garret is a small rooftop apartment or rooms usually the abode of the poor or down at luck. To dream of a run down garret is a sign of good luck ahead.
Garters – This refers to suspenders for men’s socks—not so much in use these days—but to dream of them is a sign of oncoming illness. A more modern counterpart would be to dream of compression socks - or outrageously colored socks that are the vogue today.
Gauze – To dream of gauze, either as airy, see-though fabric, or as a roll of bandage (or modern band aid) is a sign of hypocrisy working against you from fellow professionals.
Geese – Geese, either single birds or in a flock, in the air or on land, signify both joy and good luck ahead.
Giant -- Sudden good fortune is forecast if you dream of giants. See also Cyclops above.
Girdle – If you dream of a woman’s girdle or of any modern body shaping underwear, you have an omen of impending marriage. If the girdle or garment is green or blue in color it means that the marriage with be a long and happy one. If the colors seen are silver or gold, it means the marriage will be beset by money troubles and financial worries brought on by a spendthrift partner. You may not, at the time of the dream, be contemplating marriage - in which case be wary of the next potential partner you meet.
Glass – Every object of glass seen in a dream refers in one way or another to the feminine gender. The most common object is a drinking glass (could appear to be crystal as well) that is being handed to the dreamer. This means that there will be a marriage or a birth in the dreamer’s immediate or extended family. If, in the dream, the glass cracks or breaks without any water being spilled, it means that the mother and child will experience the pending birth without any ill effects (in the case of a new marriage in the family a pregnancy and healthy delivery is forecast). If the glass is cracked or broken and water is spilled, the health of the mother may be in jeopardy. If the glass is undamaged, but water is spilled, the health of the baby may be in jeopardy.
Gloves – A dream in which gloves (of any kind) appear is an omen of bad luck.
Goat -- A goat in your dream foretells ill-health. If the goat is staring at you, it is a sign that you will want for something. If you or someone else kills the goat, you are in for good luck.
Goblet – Dreaming of a goblet, a fancy wine glass or some other richly decorated drinking vessel is a sign that your own conceit is about to undermine your welfare.
Gold – Seeing gold in a dream is generally a bad omen. Gold in any form, from coins to bullion to gold objects, is a sign that financial losses are ahead. If you dream of finding gold you will have temporary good luck that will quickly fade.
Ghost – See Spectre below.
Gossip – Small financial gains are ahead if you dream of gossiping women or workmates.
Gout – Feeling a twinge of gout (a painful disease of the lower joints and toes caused by excess Uric Acid in the bloodstream—often the result of overeating of rich foods) in a dream is a warning that your laziness and apathy in matters of importance will harm you.
Grand Parents – Should an elderly couple, your grandparents or others, appear in a dream means that you have an inheritance to come.
Grapes – Dreaming of grapes is an omen of joy resulting from large business profits.
Grass – Rich green grass in expansive meadows in a dream means good fortune. If the grass is yellow like straw profits will be temporary. If the grass is brown and dead through lack of water you have a sign that a financial drought may be ahead.
Grasshoppers – Grasshoppers alone or in swarms foretell of a poor future and failed projects due to a lack of commitment and energy on the part of the dreamer.
Greyhound – A greyhound, alone or especially racing at a track is a warning that the dreamer’s habits of lack of caution, improvidence and extravagance are about to come home to roost.
Grinding – Grinding coffee or pepper in a dream is a sign of future worries and sorrow. Grinding corn (as in a Vitamix for bread) is a sign of a future financial good fortune.
Gudgeons – A gudgeon is a small fresh water fish common in Europe and used for bait or food. Seeing any small silver fish in a dream is a sign of good fortune. If, however, you are catching these fish for food, it is a sign that someone you trust will betray you.
Guillotine – Should the beheading machine invented during the French Revolution appear in your dreams it is a sign a great good fortune ahead.
Guns – Any kind of shotgun or other long gun seen in a dream is an omen of personal misfortune and wretchedness in the near future.
