Did you know that apart from the four basic temperaments, there are 12 other temperament blends?

Temperament is a combination of inborn traits that subconsciously affects human behavior. A person’s temperament determines whether that person is an introvert or extrovert, a shy or outgoing person, or a music or sports enthusiast. Basically, your temperament molds your personality and character.

There are four basic temperaments as propounded by Hippocrates, a Greek physician, and philosopher. However, studies have shown that we are a blend of at least two temperaments; one predominant and a secondary. This is due to the fact that the gene pool is made up of six people; two parents and four grandparents. So, a combination of six temperaments makes a baby.

THE FOUR BASIC TEMPERAMENTS.

SANGUINE

Sanguine is a buoyant and fun-loving temperament with tender hearts. They are very lively people who live in the present, they do not dwell on past disappointments and are not fearful of future difficulties. They are usually optimistic that tomorrow would be as good as today or even better. Sanguines are early riser who usually wake in a lively mood.

Sanguines can be often impractical and disorganized. They are great at starting new things but never finishing them. They easily forget their schedules and obligations and cannot be relied on to keep to time or meet deadlines. Even though a sanguine is lively, they are never far from tears. They are mostly emotionally unstable.

CHOLERIC

Cholerics are usually strong willed and highly disciplined individuals. They are very confident in their abilities. Cholerics have strong leadership tendencies, they love to be in charge.

Cholerics are practical people, they have the ability to make a quick appraisal of a situation and come up with the most practical solution.

Cholerics are short tempered, even after exploding in wrath thy often continue carrying grudges. They can go to any length to revenge an injustice. Sometimes, it's difficult for cholerics to apologize when they are wrong. Their strong will and high self esteem tend to make them feel self sufficient.

MELANCHOLY.

Melancholies are naturally creative and gifted individuals with high IQs. Most of the world’s genius are melancholy. Melancholies are perfectionists, their standard of excellence exceed that of others. They usually do not have many friends, but they are loyal people who can lay down their lives for their friends. Melancholies rarely seeks to be in the limelight. Although they may be quiet and calm, they can get really angry and resentful sometimes.

PHLEGMATIC

Phlegmatics are practical, efficient and well organized. Their work is usually very neat and efficient. Phlegmatics are dependable, they are faithful to friends. They also have a very good sense of humour. They are prone to be slow and lazy, that can also be very indecisive.

THE TEMPERAMENT BLENDS.

SANCHLOR

Sanchlor is a blend of Sanguine and Choleric. A Sanchlor has the happy charisma of a sanguine and a mix of Choleric makes the individual more organized and productive than a pure sanguine.

Sanchlor tends to talk a bit too much, they can be complimentary when it suits them but wouldn’t hesitate to their someone down with their words when they’re pissed.

SANMEL

A mix of Sanguine and Melancholy. SanMels are highly emotional people, they can laugh so hard one minute, then burst into tears the next minute. They are usually people -oriented individuals. SanMels often suffer from insecurities.

PHELGMEL

A blend of Phlegmatic and Melancholy. Phelgmels are the most quiet and gentle of all temperament blends. They are rarely angry or hostile. They are neat and very organized and they do well in anything that involves patience. They sometimes deal with low self esteem and passiveness towards life generally.

CHLORMEL

A mix of Choleric and Melancholy. This blend is extremely competitive. They have the ability to remember details with precision. They are outspoken, and usually the best debaters. They combine the hard to please tendencies of the Choleric and the perfectionism of the Melancholy. They can be really hostile sometimes.

PHLEGSAN.

A blend of Phlegmatic and Sanguine. They are the best temperament to get along with. They are fun-loving and dependable. They sometimes suffer from worry and anxiety which is usually birthed from insecurities.

CHLORPHLEG.

A mix of Choleric and Phlegmatic. CHLORPHLEG is the most subdued of all extroverted temperaments, they are a blend of hot and calm. They are well organized people and people enjoy working with them. They can be really stubborn and resentful.

Some people have wondered why they do not fit perfectly in any of the four basic temperaments. Looking closely at the temperament blends may help to discover a person’s temperament. Research has shown that an individual may be a blend of two or more temperaments.
