Do "past lives" exist?
Past lives and reincarnation: what was once a hokey New Age theory is now a viral TikTok trend. Using a YouTube video to induce a state of hypnosis, TikTok users are emerging from their alleged hypnotic state with wild claims. Some say they discovered they “let the Trojan Horse in” during a battle in ancient Greece; others say their past lives were more recent, and that they died on 9/11 or caused the death of Princess Diana in 1997.

What if I told you that reincarnation is a real scientific subject of study? Not kidding. Not too long ago, I read a book by Jim. B. Tucker called Return to Life in which he recounted his work, first under Ian Stevenson who died in 2007, and then on his own, to get to the bottom of why so many young children seemed to know things it was impossible for them to know about a past life they insisted they had lived.

Carla Hall stepped out into deep indigo, that never-quite pitch that hovers until dawn. It’s as if the planet spots its head, never quite taking her eye off the sun. Or maybe the world revolves around this one city. Some Angeleno’s would certainly thrill to believe that. Others hold it in their bones as absolute truth. But night falls here. And Carla tumbles into it. Down from the rooftop bar with its buzzing heated lamps and six tops of bros, one floor leaked reggaeton into the stairwell. The next pulsed out top 40 hip hop. Until finally, Carla slithers through sweaty, matted clusters, ebbing and cresting under the incantation of some anonymous pop karaoke. Two men cowering from the approach of middle age lob crass anecdotes overhead as she pinches through the dried urine miasma of the doorway. They are a pair of good midwestern boys flexing their edge at one another in their uniforms of distressed denim and pomade tousled hair.

America's Most Popular Blues Legend, A Deal With The Devil?
Many people have heard the story but not many people know the history. If you've heard the story of the "Faustian Pact" it refers to a 15th century deal between a clergyman and the demon Mephistopheles. It's debatable what really happened but the Faustian Deal has become an ingredient in many literary, musical, artistic works, and cinematic pieces. In recent years the pact with the devil, or demons, has become a recurring ingredient in the just ended television series, Supernatural. Most of those deals centered around the characters of the crossroads demons, most notably the character of Mark Sheppards' Crowley.

Unexpected
Something quite strange just happened. I think there might be something wrong going on. How could it be that everything I read, I had already read before? Is that even possible? It must be, since every time I turn a page, the new page seems like the same old page again. And the story is still the same; the same words, the same expressions, the same ideas, the same flow, the same voice, and the same intonation; all this with the same message.
