When airport passengers are continuously attempting to smuggle bizarre items into their carry-ons on an airline, the TSA has a difficult job! Check out some of the strangest items ever discovered and seized by the TSA. You won't believe some of the stuff on this list, so keep an eye out! 🤯😵🤮🤬
How insane would you consider bringing a weapon, an animal, or even human remains onto an airplane? There is a long list of weapons that are prohibited from being brought on board. The TSA has caught people trying to bring some of the most unbelievable things onto airplanes. The TSA is still evaded by some people, though. Rarely, if ever, does this succeed. As an example, a TSA officer stopped a man who attempted to smuggle a utility blade onto an airplane in his carry-on. The man obviously knew the blade wouldn't get past security, so he tried to hide it in a Scooby-Doo card. Using the cartoon dog's head as a cover, he cut out a section of the card.
The man was brought in for questioning, and the blade was obviously confiscated; as a result, he missed his flight. The sheer number of blades the TSA has to seize on a weekly basis is actually a little unsettling. Some people will go to unbelievable lengths to hide their weapons. The TSA had to search a carry-on bag in San Antonio, Texas, after it had just gone through the x-ray machine. A lipstick tube was what they were looking for. At first glance, it appeared fairly commonplace despite being covered in rhinestones. Nevertheless, the TSA discovered a hidden knife inside the tube rather than lipstick. The lipstick knife may have only been used for self-defense, but it was not permitted on board the aircraft.
Many people have attempted to bring entire swords onto airplanes, which is even worse than the lipstick knife. The absurd thing is that trying to get past the TSA with a sword is actually not that unusual. One popular method of attempting to board planes with swords appears to be to conceal them inside canes. One man made the decision to use his cane as a weapon on an entirely new level. TSA personnel were taken aback when they discovered a cane that was not only a sword but had been modified to include a stun gun. But unless you're a ninja, you wouldn't believe what the TSA finds to be the most frequently hidden weapon. Throwing stars appear to be weapons that the TSA is constantly trying to sneak past.
For several reasons, this is unexpected. First, why do so many people carry throwing stars? Are they all ninjas? Second, if they are ninjas, shouldn't they be a little more cunning? In any case, TSA agents have confiscated throwing stars of all colors and sizes and have to repeatedly remind people that they cannot bring throwing stars onto airplanes. In order to get their throwing stars past the TSA, some people have even gone to extreme measures. One person concealed their throwing star inside a phone case after folding it up. As this passenger discovered, just because something is inside a case doesn't make it invisible to scanners. Throwing stars have been discovered by the TSA so frequently that they had to make an announcement to remind passengers that all martial arts weapons are forbidden in carry-on luggage.
Even more, they requested that people contact them directly if they had any inquiries about how to pack and store throwing stars for a flight on their social media accounts at AskTSA. You won't believe what the next person tried to do if you thought that trying to sneak past the TSA with throwing stars and hidden swords was crazy. At Albany International Airport, TSA personnel had to carefully remove a duffle bag from the conveyer belt and direct its owner to the security office. A chainsaw was housed in the bag. Yes, the man put his chainsaw in a carry-on bag and passed it through the security scanner like it was nothing out of the ordinary.
Although it is unclear why someone would need to fly with their chainsaw, chainsaws are allowed to travel in checked baggage as long as they are clean, properly packed, and do not contain any fuel. The majority of items with the word "gun" in their names are probably not allowed in your carry-on luggage, just using common sense. That also applies to spear guns. At the Newark Liberty International Airport, a man attempted to board a flight while wrapping his spear gun in packing tape. It was probably not necessary for the man to attempt to smuggle his spear gun onto the flight because there are rarely any fish on airplanes. The TSA confiscated the weapon and put it in storage with the other items they had earlier that day gathered from passengers.
The TSA regularly reminds people that if they are unsure whether or not they can bring something in their carry-on, they can always check the TSA's Can I Bring My section on the government website. Just in case you were wondering, spear guns are listed under "prohibited" on this list. Because there are lower prices and no taxes at the duty-free shops in airports, many people enjoy making purchases there. Travelers frequently buy expensive cigar boxes and upscale alcoholic beverages. These items cannot be eaten or drunk on the aircraft, and they will be seized if they are opened before passing through security, when she was informed by security that she would have to throw away the expensive R.M. Martin XO Excellence Cognac, a woman at Beijing Capital International Airport decided to down the entire bottle.
It's obvious that she got violently sick and very drunk. In Detroit, Michigan, the TSA had to deal with yet another bizarre Coca-Cola incident. A man attempted to pack an excessively large bottle of cognac in his carry-on bag. However, the TSA had not found the bottle or even the alcohol to be unsettling. It was actually the dead animals that were inside the bottle. The bottle itself was considerably larger than what the TSA permitted, but upon closer inspection, security discovered five Dead Sea horses that were listed as an endangered species inside. It's difficult to come up with a punishment that fits the crime because this is already messed up. Perhaps the TSA should have made the man drink the entire container of preservative that the sea horses were kept in until his internal organs were in danger.
In the end, the TSA removed the man from the queue and contacted Michigan wildlife officials to seize the bottle and Dead Sea horses. The man who was caught with the bottle was turned over to the appropriate authorities and severely fined for his actions. Others have attempted to pass live animals through TSA checkpoints as well. There was a hidden passenger on one person's computer hard drive who was trying to get to Barbados. A baby ball python had been taken by the traveler, placed in a stocking, and stuffed into the hard drive. TSA personnel noticed something that did not seem quite right as the carry-on was being scanned. They removed the hard drive, saved the snake, and gave it to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, which made sure to keep it away from any other people foolish enough to try to smuggle it out of the country in a computer hard drive.
Flying with a pet can be costly. This does not, however, imply that you should try to sneak your pet onto a flight in your carry-on, as one couple discovered. They made the decision to stuff their cat in a suitcase rather than pay the pet fee and put it in a crate as they prepared to take off from Pennsylvania's Erie International Airport. The TSA agents were shocked to see a cat staring back at them when the carry-on went through the scanner. This was not only against the law but also incredibly careless on the part of the owners. The Humane Society was contacted by the TSA, and they agreed to care for the cat. Following their terrible choices and carelessness, the couple was accused of animal cruelty. Finding live or dead animals in carry-on luggage is probably alarming enough for the TSA.
The next discovery, however, will make you shiver terribly. The TSA has no issues with many different kinds of animal bones. The TSA personnel working at Fort Lauderdale International Airport, however, stumbled upon a really unexpected collection of bones. A passenger found a human skull inside a ceramic pot that they had bought. The traveler claimed they were unaware that the pot contained pieces of a human skull. One of the stranger items discovered by the TSA in carry-on luggage was not an animal's bones but rather something else entirely. It was a little bit more repulsive. The vast wilderness of Alaska is well known, and at Juneau International Airport, TSA personnel frequently encounter carry-on luggage containing natural or wildlife-related items from the area.
