Pope Francis Has Died: Predictions for What Will Happen Next

The death of Pope Francis has awakened historical predictions that invite criticism and reflection

On April 21, 2025, Pope Francis has left this earthly plane. The Supreme Pontiff has died at the age of 88 at his residence in the Casa Santa Marta, a victim of bilateral pneumonia

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires City, Argentina, on December 17, 1936, Francis was the first Latin American pope and the first Jesuit to occupy the throne of Peter.

When Pope Francis died, ancient predictions began to manifest themselves that supposedly will happen after his departure.

Highly prestigious seers such as Baba Vanga, Nostradamus and St. Malachy, among others, have made predictions that follow the death of Pope Francis. Then everyone can draw their own conclusions, getting their own perspective.

Baba Vanga

The Bulgarian clairvoyant Baba Vanga predicted the arrival of a dark-robed pope who would leave Rome amid flames and destruction. The Jesuits, who traditionally wear black, have been the subject of various interpretations, including the possibility that it refers to a pope of African origin. For centuries, there has been a belief that the last pope will be a Jesuit, and Francis became the first in more than two thousand years. His election in 2013 was seen as the start of a profound change. The death of Francis could be the catalyst for what the ancients called 'the great purge', a period in which the Church would be subjected to a purification through fire and blood.

St. Malachy

St. Malachy, an Irish archbishop, made several predictions about the future of humanity. In the twelfth century, he compiled a list of 112 prophetic mottos that would be associated with every pope until the end of the world. The slogans are brief, symbolic and enigmatic, such as Pastor angelicus, De gloria olivae or De medietate lunae. The last entry refers to Petrus Romanus; this Pope, according to prophecy, would lead the Church during a great tribulation before the final judgment. Benedict XVI was related to the motto 111, De gloria olivae, due to its connection with the Benedictine order, which is symbolically associated with the olive tree. Therefore, Francis would be the last Pope of history. After his death, the destruction of Rome and the Last Judgment would come.

Nostradamus

Nostradamus would have anticipated the arrival of a “foreign” Pope in times of chaos, that is, born outside Europe. This is directly related to Francis, the first Latin American and Jesuit pontiff in the history of the Church. Nostradamus said: "At the end of the Roman Church, there will arise a humble man, born from the south, who will lead for a short time before the final fall.”

These words describe the figure of Jorge Bergoglio, born in Argentina, who since the beginning of his papacy has spoken of a Church that is more austere and closer to the people.

Nostradamus also held the idea that after the death of Francis the End of the World would happen.

Final words

When a pontiff dies and the conclave begins to elect his successor, it is common for Christians of different denominations to ask if there would be a final phase of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. It is worth remembering, however, that singling out each new pope as the "last one" usually results in predictions with set dates and then debunked. What the prophecy really calls into question is not a specific individual, but the system he represents.

Whatever the change in the geopolitical and ecclesiastical landscape, including the death of notorious figures or the election of new leaders, the best attitude is to remain calm in the face of the large amount of information that manifests itself.

Based on what the Bible says, it is essential to reiterate that the final development of events does not depend on a single person but on the set of religious and political powers that will rise up to challenge divine sovereignty.
