Little Things Matter
Not everything has to be big for change
My dream is a place where everyone is seen as an equal and are open to hearing both sides before judging anyone. I have been at the end of bullying for many things in my life. I have been at camps that are boy dominated, They never bullied me but just the sight of this made me wonder something. Could I possibly compete with them for at least a small chance of standing out? There are seen as trivial things and unimportant but if big changes are gonna happen it doesn't mean a big movement will make it happen. I see everyone as equals and as people who should be respected until they prove to me that they aren't trustworthy or have the right for respect from me. People float to their friends and to people they relate to then leave the people that they don't relate to a lone. I have always thought people would miss me because I was the last to be chosen for when we pick partners unless I had something that could benefit them.
For my dream to happen I want people to start small by listening to each other and try and understand their side of things. By doing this people will see that not everything affects just one person or just one group of people. We judge people by things we see and hear a lot of the time. If we just take a second and think and find a way to hear both sides we might see something that we might have never seen before. I am not a racist and this is an example but lets say a white person had just finished helping a black person. And while saying thank you to the white person the black adds an insulting and slightly racist comment to it. The white person is in a way trap. If they spoke out and tried to defend themselves about what was said to them there's a chance they would be accused of being racist. This could cause people to start to be rude and inconsiderate to the white person.
People who instantly jumped to the black person side with no knowledge of what has been said or what was going on judged the white person without giving them a chance to explain. The same thing could happen to a black person as well. People who instantly chose sides without the full stories might not want to even listen to what is actually going on. This needs to change. And Social Media is another big problem. They are focusing majority of time on the bad things in the world. Like with COVID they focused on the numbers of people who had caught the virus and who had died from it. The mention of how many of who recovered from it didn;t get mentioned a lot. This scared people. The same could go for the police. The news mainly broadcasted about their brutality towards people and hardly ever on their softer side. While all of this is happening the voices of everyday people and their problems can easily be drowned out. People who see the good work police do the people try and cover both sides.
Like girls a lot of times are underestimated. People most of the time but not always see them weaker than boys. And this is due to years of people thinking this way. And when girls to amazing things better than a boy they get brushed off. And unless they make a name for themselves they can be easily forgotten. People nationality also causes people to judge them without letting them to show their true selves. Even people who stick out because they have a special need causes people to pity and look down at them. And without saying a word to them. This makes people want to hide their true sleeves. They are drowned out by everyone who are trying to make big changes fast. But maybe taking smaller steps to make the big change is the way to go. To make the world a better place start small then slowly grow while making sure to always see the bigger picture and make sure to listen to everyone. Cause isn't that what everyone wants? To be heard, respected and for people to understand them? But to do tis we can't make assumptions that we believe to know true. Instead take it slow and build up from there. That way we can build a world where everyone can be heard, respected seen as equals and never judge without knowing the details.
