The Yin to Saint Nicholas' Yang
I love Marvel movies. I don't think that the boys and I have missed one. They linked to some of my favorite memories. The four of us planning a trip to the movie theaters- the popcorn, candy, the arguments over seating arrangements, the LONG discussions afterward on the Marvel movie's whole plot and how it ties into the others. Will there be a part 2? I am a big fan of Doctor Strange- my kids not so much. But, by far- I loved the Thor movies. And Loki was my favorite character. I don't know why. He was always trying to get the upper hand, he was not a good person, but he was funny! What I didn't know was that the whole movie is base on Norse mythology.

Loki
Loki is one of the most notorious beings of Norse mythology, and subsequent modern story lines, but he gets a bad rap as a delinquent and intentional troublemaker. In truth he is the kid in the neighborhood that has a less than favorable home life so other households unofficially adopt him. For Loki that means he's the son of a giant who the gods and goddesses of Asgard tolerate because of the boys will be boy’s mentality. The legends of Ragnarok state that Loki will be part of the opposing force against the Aesir, which makes people think that he is a villain. It's important to look deeper though because the Aesir sealed their own fate when it comes to Loki being a villain.

The Medieval Era
So many of us faintly remember this period of time from our school days. We learnt the names and dates of Kings and Queens for our history exams, and found the ‘info’ comes in handy for the odd pub quiz. For me personally, being so interested and fascinated by history, I couldn’t wait to start this Era --- but where to start? When I got out my history books, this time in history seemed endless --- but I found myself reading for hours --- my husband has never seen me so quiet!

If you like Broad City, then you’ll love Pen15.
In a similar fashion to a lot of people in 2014 I fell in love with the T.V. show Broad City. At first I wasn’t quite sure what exactly drew me to the show, but like a moth to light I didn’t care, I just knew I needed it. Ilana and Abbi’s chaotically wonderful friendship came to me in a particularly poignant time in my life. I was graduating high school, going to college and I wanted more female friends. I had girlfriends and best friends but I never had that. By that, I mean the hedonistic, coming of age, sloppily bare it all, “chiquitita tell me what’s wrong” relationship with another woman.
