How I Healed Myself of Fibromyalgia
I was tired of being sick and tired.

Fibromyalgia sucks! There really isn't a good description for it. Everything about this horrible disease sucks. Fibromyalgia is defined as a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tenderness in localized areas. That definition sucks! Anyone who suffers from this disease can tell you that fibromyalgia is so much more than that. It affects every muscle of your body from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. Experts estimate that there are about 700 muscles in the human body. One expert, Paul Ingraham, a science writer in Vancouver, Canada, states that "there are about 100 muscles that might get discussed in a gym (and of course only 20% of those get 80% of the shop talk), ~200 more muscles that are more obscure, roughly 400 more muscles that are really danged obscure, several million hair-raising muscles, several billion smooth muscles cells blended together, and exactly 1 heart muscle. He estimates that there are approximately 50,100,000,701 muscles, accurate to within 99%.
As I stated above, fibromyalgia affects EVERY muscle of the body. I would often describe my fibromyalgia pain as having a charlie horse in every muscle of your body 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Sometimes the charlie horse concentrates its pain more towards a random set of muscles, and you believe that you couldn't hurt any more than what you hurt already. Then you find out that you can. I would also describe it as being a cross between The Thing, the man who is made of rock from the Fantastic Four, and The Tin Man from "The Wizard of Oz."
There is also widespread inflammation involved with this dis-order. Inflammation is when part of the body becomes reddened, swollen, hot, and often painful, especially as a reaction to injury or infection. I remember one incident of many when my entire body was inflamed. My husband could feel the heat coming off my body from across the room. I was screaming in pain, I was crying, and my entire body was tender to the touch.
Unfortunately, medical professionals have decided that these complaints about pain and inflammation are all in our heads. I have not only experienced a lack of compassion and understanding, but I have also heard many other stories about how fibromyalgia patients are treated (or not). For example, that incident I mentioned above with the hot and tender body was so bad that my husband called my doctor so we could get permission to head to the ER. My insurance at the time required your doctor's permission to go to the ER. If you did not get his or her permission and you were not admitted to the hospital, you would be responsible for 100% of the bill. He said, "absolutely not. I will not have you wasting the ER staff's time with this nonsense." My husband put me in a tub of cold water to try to ease my pain. When I woke up the next morning my muscles were stiff and hard like concrete. It was as if I had been placed in a ceramic kiln, and all of my muscles had turned into pottery.
After several years of inaction by my doctor, I turned to do my own extensive research about the muscles and how they worked. I learned about inflammation and how it starts in the body. I started smoking marijuana because I learned that it is a natural muscle relaxant. The medications my doctor would put me on would make it impossible for me to function. I started drinking mangosteen juice. Mangosteen is a fruit from The Orient that has been used for centuries in medicine. It is known as the Queen of the Fruits. I also started drinking alkaline water. Alkaline water ensures that your body is operating at the correct pH levels. Some people say that our bodies meet the proper pH levels naturally, but with fibromyalgia, our pH levels may be off. So, I believe it doesn't hurt to add alkaline water to the diet.
These measures have actually stopped the widespread muscular pain I was experiencing and allowed my body to heal. Since every muscle was involved over the years, I have to focus my attention on every muscle, including those deep down muscles that are involved in my face. The reversal of the disease has allowed me to regain flexibility in my muscles. My muscles were so hard, I heard the sound of scraping concrete as they started to yield to the pressure of massage. I have crackled and popped so often that it sounds like breaking sticks, but the relief I have felt from all of that has been astronomical.
I am not sure if my remedy will work for everyone who suffers from fibromyalgia. I just know that it worked for me. They say that there is no cure for it, so I say that it can't hurt to try it. I got to the point that I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I wish you all luck in your pursuit of healthy living.
