Gift Ideas For Your Favorite Nerds, Geeks, And All Gamers
Gifts For A Nerd By A Nerd From A Family of Nerds.
Are you struggling to find a gift for your favorite geek, nerd, or gamer?
It can be hard to gift shop for someone whose interests may not align with yours. That's why I make helpful suggestion lists for people - with specific label titles.
I know nobody likes a label, but they are VERY helpful when you are struggling to buy somebody you love (or know at work for the Secret Gift Exchange) the PERFECT but affordable gift. Right?
And my lists work for everything - not just specific holidays. While tis the season of stress shopping for the perfect gift for everyone, there's also that birthday in a few months too.
I got your back, my friends. Behold! The ULTIMATE list of gift ideas for that nerdy, geeky, and/or gamey person in your life.
I'll be transparent though, if there is a link to Amazon that's probably an affiliate link. I might get a small commission based on what you buy. But you won't be charged extra for that!
1. Collectible Game Cards For Deck Building Games
Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic The Gathering, Naruto, Marvel Overpower, Pokemon, Misborn, there are countless card-collecting deck-building games.
And I never discourage people who can afford to buy Pokemon cards (or deck boosters) or Yu-Gi-Oh! cards brand-new, I always suggest eBay. I happen to sell collectible cards on eBay, so I can tell you with confidence that a sight like eBay or TCGplayer is an awesome place to go when you're on a budget. Sellers will sell single cards (if your deck-builder is looking for that ONE special card) or sell sets and pre-built deck starters.
It's the perfect way to shop on a budget!
2. You could get them a game... OR... you can get them ALL THE GAMES EVER!
Video game consoles have had a spectacular way of depreciating and evolving. We are already on the 56th version of PlayStation and Xbox consoles it feels like.
But why conform to that when technology has gone full circle to bring it all back?
Introducing the video game emulator and controller that you plug into your television. It has 20,000 games on it (I know my big numbers are oftentimes extreme exaggerations, but this time it's not!). It's plug-and-play, with every retro childhood nostalgia game you can think of (probably EVERY single Mario Kart?)
There's even a second controller and two-player compatibility.
3. If they already have all the games ever, perhaps a spare controller for their favorite console?
"Everyone" knows that gamers who use their controllers religiously that controllers wear out over time. Especially the stupid little joysticks.
So it's ALWAYS handy for a gamer to have a spare controller sitting around. There are dozens to choose from and they can get pretty darn fancy. And some of them LOOK fancy while being a lie.
My suggestion: stick with the designated console-licensed controllers, do your research, and make sure your product has good reviews.
4. Dungeons and Dragons - Or Other TTRPG Gear
I wrote an article once on tips for having enough dice for D&D.
But dice aren't the only thing you can get your table-top gamer. While Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer aren't the only TTRPG games out there, it's the most well-known. Oftentimes though, RRTPG gear can be mixed and mingled with other games.
Dungeon Master or Game Master campaign books are a great gift if you know a master of the table. Or rulebooks, monster guides, or any other guides. There are books for game masters of ALL sorts to give them ideas on traps, riddles, and puzzles for their party members to solve. There are other Dungeon Master tools, such as DM screens, and customizable table maps that are pre-generated in books or you can even build them yourself. And any good GM who enjoys creating a layout on the table with maps needs to have game miniatures to bring the magic to life. Whether you decide to get unpainted miniatures to customize your player's characters or go with some pre-painted NPC kind, the magic is all there.
4. The Answer Is... What Are Manga and Anime?
If your friends with someone who loves anime, you know they love anime. Because all people who love anime talk about anime.
You could always get them their favorite anime series on DVD.
Or you can get them their favorite manga series.
Again these are things that bought brand-new are great - but eBay might have some second-hand items that look brand-new for cheaper.
5. Does your nerd like food? Does your geek cook?
Some of the best gifts I have ever been given are cookbooks. My FAVORITE cookbooks are the ones that indulge my need to eat the fantasy foods I so often see in my favorite animes or hear about in my fantasy settings. Thanks to madness and brilliance, I am often able to combine my two favorite things: Food and Nerdism.
Anime Cookbook - 75 Iconic Anime Dishes
Heroes Feast - Flavors Of The Multiverse
Heroes Feast Dungeon and Dragon Cookbook
The Düngeonmeister Cookbook: 75 RPG-Inspired Recipes
Exquisite Exandria: A Critical Role Cookbook
Anime Eats: The Ultimate Anime Cookbook
The Unofficial Ghibli Cookbook (big anime nerds should be SUPER STOKED about this one!)
The Official Stardrew Valley Cookbook
I could provide you with hundreds. I only have Exquisite Exandria and Heroes Feast- but now that I've made a small list, I'm sure my husband will fix this.
6. Last But Not Least - Nerdy Regalia For Wearing Proudly
Friendships are found through clothing or items carried on your person that express your interest. Right? No? No one else? Anyway, that's not the point. No one ever gets angry at a PERFECT nerd shirt, jacket, keychain, or figurine! Check out my beautiful display of examples below:

Omgggg, I'd be soooo excited if anyone got me a Pokemon game. I only have a Visual Gameboy Advance on my laptop and the only versions I have are from Gen 1 to Gen 3. Getting anything beyond that would make me so happy! Instead of cookbooks, I'd be over the moon if anyone got me food hehehehehe
