The most terrifying feeling in the world is that you are not simply a random bit of star stuff; that you have a purpose and meaning that transcends anything you can even remotely comprehend.
It is the most terrifying thing, because there is nothing that can be done in the face of it. You can fight, but in the end it turns out that fighting was what was wanted from you the entire time.
Life is terrifying. Everytime we interact with another person, that person is profoundly affected in ways we cannot even begin to understand. The unknown rears up on hind legs and appears to grow in unrealized stature... but in effect it is meaningless. The interaction happens, and life is altered accordingly.
The terror is simply a result of the lack of control, of knowing that everything is a poorly balanced house of cards and that the nature of Life is a stiff breeze.
You *will* die, no matter what happens. Life will cease, and the "ultimate mystery" will be answered. Thus far, this appears to be the case 99.9999% (repeating... I claim immortality, and begrudge nobody else the claim outside of a "Time will tell"). When I outlive you all, rest assured that I have no plans of stopping. Soon, I will forget even my own age and that's when it will really get interesting.
Until then, there is the terror. The terror of potentially being right, of knowing it is wrong, and of simply not knowing.
Welcome to Life. It is a terrifying, and chances are you have Anxiety to boot. The only thing that matters is what you do with that information.
