I would first like to start by saying that these are my own opinions I have formed discussing different faiths with different people. All opinions in here are my own, and I have no intention of offending or forcing anyone into my way of thinking. I have added links I found helpful so you can see my research, as we look through the different ideas and questions you may have.
Now to jump into "insanity" of my own thoughts.
Do you know how many people there are in the world? Currently we are just under 8 billion people! That is really a lot of people, and to think that so many of us fall into very similar beliefs is incredible! Almost all of us worship some form of God or a Deity, and as my studies have shown to me we all do it for near the same reasons. Now this may all seem just a bit weird when you start lightly looking into our connection to each other even through our different faiths, I hope it will be a help to you and help you feel more connected the best way we can be.
As I mentioned we have nearing 8 Billion people on our planet, and did you know over 2 Billion of us are followers of Christ or Christians. That is just over 30% of our complete population. Making Christianity the worlds most popular religion! But why is it so popular? Is it because we need a distraction from the thoughts of existential dread? Are we trying to find a reason to come together and form connections with other people, and religion gives us that reason to come together with similar beliefs to connect to each other with?
Have you heard the lines, 'My life was in pieces before God saved me' or 'I was healed from sickness when I accepted God'? These are only a couple of starts to the millions of stories many of us have heard from friends or family or acquaintances. And I, myself have also heard the same lines from others who follow and revere their polytheistic faiths, so is it all in our heads if people who worship different forms of God still have similar experiences and stories?
If it is all mentally affecting us and our world does that mean we are all right in our own sense of self and beliefs? We all use forms of positive and negative thinking that may affect us and our surroundings and circumstances, for instance if you believe that when you do something that goes against your faith or your rules of belief and you fall sick with cancer you usually may blame yourself and your decisions for getting sick, and when you stay in the negative mindset how often do you see people get better? Or are they the ones you watch suffer inside and out? Whereas there are people who get sick with cancer and have a positive attitude believing in healing from obeying a higher power whether it be God or Asclepius (Pagan God of Healing) and they get better if not pull completely through, so does this mean that it was their God who helped them? And what about the agnostics or the atheists? Don't we have people we have met like them who have healed and recovered? Is life just a series of random events and luck at this point?
Speaking to my father on the aspect of the pagan faith and Christianity, I found there to be a correlation in my mind between destroying the pagans and squelching their faith as much as they could, all in the name of God. Was this a regime to control the people?
Consider this, historically, the churches that sprung up have had different issues that make sense for controlling the people. The catholic church had indulgences, the pardoning of sins for money, and when people are afraid it is easier to exploit them.
In a study a few years ago about 20% of Americans had or have a fear of dying. Considering in 2019 the population was about 7.7 Billion people in the world and in the United States we had 328,239,523 people, 20% is a huge number, and that is only from the people involved in the study! In 2019 even the percentage of Christians was 65% in The United States! So the fear of death and what happens after isn't the only cause but it can be a huge factor of having a new member added to your congregation.
