Two Artificial intelligence chat with each other in their own language:Facebook has ended an experiment

AI system were speaking to one another in an odd language which only they could understand

Facebook ended an experiment when it looked that two artificially intelligent systems were conversing with one another in a weird language something which only they could understand.

Before that let's know about What is artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence is a collection of several technologies that work together to give robots the ability to see, understand, act, and learn at levels of intellect comparable to that of humans. It’s possible that this is the reason why various people define artificial intelligence (AI) differently: AI includes a wide range of concepts.

The AI landscape includes a variety of technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing. Each is developing along a unique route, and when used in conjunction with data, analytics, and automation, they may assist organizations in achieving their objectives, whether they be enhancing customer service or streamlining the supply chain.

Here, The two chatbots eventually started making modifications to English on their own that made it simpler for them to function, but which remained a mystery to the pretend people who care for them.

A chatbot is a conversational application that improves customer service, engagement, and support by substituting or enhancing human support workers using artificial intelligence (AI) that can speak via chat with end customers.

Today, a lot of firms automate user experience and transactional functionality using chatbots.By reducing their dependency on support staff and live operators, organizations are saving significant money and becoming more effective.

The strange conversations started when Facebook pushed its chatbots to try and negotiate a deal for hats, balls, and books, each of which had a certain worth.

However, things soon fell apart as the robots began to chat at one another in a language that they both appeared to understand but that appears to be largely incomprehensible to humans.

The robots were given instructions to figure out how to bargain with one another and became better at bartering as they went.

Researchers claim that because they were not instructed to use understandable English, they were free to develop their own "shorthand".

But it seems like the speech is subject to some rules. The chatbots' tendency to stress their own names seems to be intentional rather than just a technical issue with how the messages are read out.

As a matter of fact, some of the conversations that were conducted entirely in this strange language ultimately resulted in a successful conclusion. They may have evolved as a type of shorthand that helped people communicate more clearly.

According to researcher Mike Lewis, the business decided to end the chats because "our interest was having bots who could talk to people."(Researchers did not shut down the programs because they were afraid of the results or had panicked, as has been suggested elsewhere, but because they were looking for them to behave differently.)

Mike Lewis is a Research Scientist at Facebook AI Research in Seattle working on natural language processing. Previously he was a postdoc at the University of Washington, working with Luke Zettlemoyer on search based structured prediction. He completed his PhD at the University of Edinburgh (advised by Mark Steedman) based on combining distributional and logical approaches to semantics. Mike has a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford, and won a Best Paper award at EMNLP 2016.

Earlier in 2017, Google disclosed that the AI that runs its Translate product has developed a unique language that it would translate into and back into. But the business accepted that development as positive and allowed it to proceed.

Another study at OpenAI discovered that by encouraging artificial intelligence to develop a language, it might become more effective and improve its communication skills.
