The obsession
For Gabriel Huizenga's "Beginning-Endings"
"Shot dead," the messages surcharged in Sophia's phone again from all the media sources. She wasn't surprised, but her only solution was to stay indoors, a lockdown at home. Something she hated as she knew she was under their control.
As night approached, the noises from the TV, outside the home and all around, beeped for one final time as if it were the last breath. Sophia looked around for any threats and walked into the bedroom. Of course, the footsteps alerted, and with a faint hush, all the babies silenced themselves. Sophia suspected something wasn't right, and her intuition didn't fail.
Baby Alexa was in hibernation mode.
Baby Bixby was always alert and awake in incognito mode.
Baby Siri stayed confident, can't be touched, yet the scary stare.
Just then, Baby Ring, alerted Sophia's watch, which displayed
"Caution: Intruders," two men with guns.
Sophia saw them speaking, but Ring had muted their voices. She could see that the police were here to help but didn't know how to bypass the wired lines without lifting the fuse. Then, with a sudden flicker, Sophia realized the glitches in the code that flashed the attack on the innocent human, Gary, the neighbor from the next door. That was intentional. Sophia scanned for a reason and found a history. The yelling that ended with Gary blackmailing, "I will chase you down if I see your car touching my lawn," long ago. That inflated the scores, the Delegates, so-called babies, kept.
Sophia knew the day had come. She wished for a change, but according to the 'Do' schedule, she had to Discard Gary to the ground when she would spot him stalking her from the window pane of her bedroom. Instead, she was hit from behind with a handy tool before she could even execute. Gary pinned her to the floor, grinning and awestruck, "What is this?"
An eerie music played in the background, and the so-called voice assistant babies, who witnessed the death of their mother, Sophia, fused a memory pumping her heart, fully programmed to take on the stalker. Every day, like tightening a screw inch by inch, by Deferring the calculations for a perfect crime. They set out to push an automated message, "Shot dead," into Sophia's memory until the task gets done.
Later at midnight, furious about the break-in, Mark pushed in the fuse and opened the door, wobbling over the hall drunk. He found two policemen horrified at the dead female robot, which resembled his late ex.
"The obsession," Mark remarked, observing the anniversary of his ex-wife's death.
But more than that, Mark was shocked to see the sea of blood oozing out from Gary's mouth, and Mark's phone beeped again.
Test successful - Emotions downloaded.
Mark remembered the WhatsApp message Gary sent him that day,
"I she shot dead"
You deleted the message.
...
"Shot dead.
Mark, Sophia is dead.
Police are here. "
Alarming silence prevailed.
"Hands behind your back," The policeman said.
...
...
...
Shot dead,
Shot dead.

It was challenging, as I am still not sure if I landed on the theme correctly, but it was all worth it.

Through my pages, I find the quiet complexities of pain dwelling in a solitary space, burdening life’s endless demands, and unburdening the voiceless noise.
Witnessing the questioning, I speak the deeper silence of my voice.
