The future's message
What will you do if you can change the choices of your life?
Jacob always had an interest in time travel. As a scientist, he spent countless hours studying its possibilities. It was no wonder that on the day he found a way to send a message to his future self, he was thrilled.
Years had passed since that fateful day. Jacob had grown older, and his experiment had become a distant memory. It was a shock when his future self responded. The message sent a chill down his spine, "Stop the main villain".
Jacob knew what he had to do. He spent years perfecting his machine to travel through time. He braced himself for the journey ahead.
The machine hummed to life as Jacob pushed the button. The world around him twisted and turned. He felt like he was being pulled in every direction, and then - he was there.
A desolate wasteland surrounded him, and the sky was dark with ominous clouds. Jacob knew that he had arrived in the future of the world he knew, and it was a world in peril.
As he surveyed the ruins around him, Jacob felt an overwhelming sense of fear. He knew that the villain he was supposed to stop was out there, somewhere. He had to get moving, but he had no idea where to start.
Suddenly, Jacob heard a noise. He spun around, but there was nothing there. The stillness of the air was disrupted by a low hum, and the sound of footsteps growing louder.
Jacob followed the footsteps, and they led him straight to an abandoned laboratory. The door creaked as he pushed it open, and he felt the weight of his own fear pressing down on him.
Inside, Jacob found a large machine that loomed over him like a sinister monster. It was nothing like he had ever seen before. Jacob had no idea what it was for or why it was there. All he knew was he needed to stop it.
Suddenly, the doors of the laboratory burst open. Jacob flinched and spun around, only to be met with a figure in a black cloak. A chill ran down Jacob's spine as he saw the look in the man's eyes. It was a look of pure evil.
The villain laughed as he stepped into the light. "It's too late for you, my boy," he said with a sinister grin.
Jacob took a deep breath and steadied his nerves. He had to act quickly. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small device. With a flick of the switch, the villain was engulfed in a beam of light.
The villain let out a scream before collapsing to the ground. For Jacob, a sense of victory erupted inside. He had done it. He had saved the world.
With a sigh of relief, Jacob noticed a small device on the villain's person. In a moment of curiosity, he examined it and found that it was a time machine. Jacob decided to use it to go back to his own time.
As soon as he settled back into his own time, Jacob began his work to ensure that his future never had to be experienced again. The message from the future had been right. He was able to stop the villain, and life began to thrive once more.
However, things were not as perfect as Jacob first believed. As he was conducting more experiments, he learned the horrifying truth. The villain he had stopped was not an evil man; he was, in fact, Jacob himself.
It was hard for him to wrap his head around the concept, but he had become so consumed by the idea of time travel that he had lost himself. Jacob had become the very thing he had been trying to stop.
From that day on, Jacob dedicated his life to ensuring that he never became that monster again. He knew that the work to repair the damage he had inflicted would take years, but he was willing to do whatever it takes to make it right.
The irony of it all was not lost on Jacob. The man that had spent his life studying time travel had become a victim of it. The future's message spurred his actions, but it was also his ultimate fall.
