Eve of the Daleks
Precisely one year after “Revolution of the Daleks,” we get yet another Dalek episode. Are we at overkill yet? The Daleks were nearly done to death under Moffat and Davies, and then we've had a Dalek special every New Year's Day since 2019 under Chibnall (saving 2020, where we had the first episode of series twelve with the Master instead). While it's fair to say we're now at the end of a trilogy, we're seeing the Daleks far too often. Once, maybe twice per Doctor would probably do, since they're just about the only villain each Doctor has to face in order to really count. Thankfully the Daleks were kept at a minimum in Doctor Who: Flux, being there primarily to act as antimatter fodder for the Doctor.

You should see the Netflix Series “Snowpiercer”.
The climactic action sequences in Snowpiercer are among the most viscerally exciting I've ever seen. However, this film's intriguing, layered world and characters prove far more memorable long after we leave the theatre, and that's ultimately what makes it special. Based on a graphic novel by Jacque Lob, Jean-Marc Rochette and Benjamin Legrand and South Korean director Bong Joon Ho's first English-language feature, Snowpiercer is set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has fled to the train of a perpetually moving super train that travels around the planet as the ice caps have melted into oblivion. Passengers live in extreme class segregation inside of cars divided by poverty.

Before Current Wonder Woman Movie, Lynda Carter Twirled a Generation in the Star Spangled Tights
Photo by Ethan The new Wonder Woman Movie upon us, we know Lynda Carter as the 1970s version, and the star spangled outfit likely resulted in its share of supernovas long before the Big Bang Theory cornered the market on superhero worship and angst among longing teenage boys. But the Arizona born actress had a career before and after we invited her into our homes every week from 1975-1979, and an upcoming appearance at B.B. Kings NY on October 12th is just another day in the life.

First Look At 'The Last of Us' Television Show
2020 had been an interesting year. The COVID-19 outbreak threatened to shut down the entire world. In March 2020, as countries struggle to fight against the pandemic, HBO announced that it was working on a television adaption of the critically acclaimed game The Last of Us. A feature film and an animated short film adaptations had been attempted previously, but both projects were canceled by Sony. Thus there were mixed feelings in regard to this initial announcement. HBO would officially greenlight the series in November 2020, giving hope to fans of the game that they will see the adaption come to fruition. Production trudged along even though the pandemic resulted in scheduling conflicts that caused a change in director. There had been very little buzz about the show until February 2021 when the production team finally revealed the leads for the series. Bella Ramsey, known for her role as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, would portray the main character Ellie. Another Game of Thrones alum, Pedro Pascal, would be playing the smuggler Joel.

Some Thoughts on Squid Game
Squid Game is, no doubt an amazing drama, topping charts in every conceivable corner of the globe, boosting its impressive roster of talent, scope, scale and storytelling to an adoring international audience. and rightly so. But it isn't new. Taking the Hunger Games, Divergent, Black Mirror-ness away from it - there's really nothing unique about centuries old entertainment in the ages of emperors, kings and queens which means death to the have-nots for the blood lust of the haves, lion-in-amphitheatre style. And what's interesting about that particular chapter in history is that people could pay to watch it happen. How much does a Netflix account cost a month, by the way?
