The Apprentice
The window curtains fluttered in the cold night's breeze, the candle flames flickering as the breeze moved through the shabby old house. The cold gripped the two people inside with harsh fingers, sinking through their skin, muscles, and tendons. The cold made a home in their coursing blood, wrapping around their bones like a blanket.

Wu Song Kills a Tiger
A large man of around a single score of years travelled the perilous mountain ridge carrying a sturdy wooden staff and a bag filled with necessities for travel. He was strong and quick, having trained in the martial arts for most of his life. The hour was growing late and the sun had set when he came across a sign on the narrow ridge:

Battle of the Bloodline
The morning coffee rush was over and it began to die down before the lunch rush would set in about an hour from now. I grabbed a rag and the bottle of cleaner from under the counter by the sink and began to wipe off the counter space and the spilled caramel syrup that got all over a stack of lids we had stored by the espresso machine. I began wiping down the sides of the metal machine when Rachel handed me a cup to start on the next order. White Chocolate Mocha. My favorite. It was my favorite to make too.

The Five Haos of Prangshuing
East of ever-pleasant Chimphan, the Golden Isle of Myrrh, and the Talkhyan Khanate’s impenetrable Wall of Thorns, is the distant land of Prangshuing. Nestled between the shivering Mountains of Madh Shrith, with their towers of splintered obsidian and the Sea of Colours with its waves of glowing water that glimmers with the hues of rainbows, Prangshuing is an ancient kingdom with many rich lands and a people blessed with wealth and long life. In Prangshuing it is a custom that the divine king, or Mathanarashat, must celebrate the anniversary of his coronation to ensure the continued bounty of the land and maintain the blessing of the gods. In the ritual, the five high priests called “Haos”, of the five gods of kingship, the Shuingai, each place a tiara on the head of the king to make the Five-Fold Crown of Imperial Majesty.

The Paladin
“Most people think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction, but I have seen the face of time and can tell you they are wrong. Time is like an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I am and why I say this. Sit down, and I will tell you a tale like none that you have ever heard.”

Astral
I waited a full five minutes after my captors left the room before I even moved. After that five minutes, I slammed my hands straight down tearing the the binding on my wrists. Hands free, I bent over and unbound my ankles rolling my hands and feet around getting the blood flowing again, both hands and feet tingling as the feeling returned to both.
