Doomsday at the Ranch
It was a cold, snow covered day in the mountains near Yellowstone National Park. The 12 inches of snow had crusted over and a lone figure covered in a thick, black snow suit tramped through the crunchy top layer. Ice was more like it. Ice cleats which covered the hiking boots made a scraping sound and that was the only sound heard for miles. Emily was alone today. Her horse Beauty was at home in the warm barn enjoying the warm company of the other farm animals. The emptiness of the surroundings meant that all the forest creatures were safely tucked into their nests and holes leaving Emily the only living thing crazy enough to go for a walk in it.

A QUEST OF THE HEART
Forever moving forward, I looked around at the devastation that met my eyes; the rubble, the decay, and the lichen covered remains of the once beautiful buildings that had once stood tall and proud in a bustling city. All caused by the devastation of the events of the past year.

The Locket
"We have just received a threat from an unknown source. All we know is that it is not of this world. Take shelter immediately." The radio broadcast came through while Ember was sitting on her bed. Ember and her parents hurried out to the shelter they had installed last month. Then came a loud crack that seemed to shake everything around them. Ember's father decided they would stay in the shelter for about a month before they came out. Om

Forgotten
They entered through the doorway, leaving the sour smell of the air, for the musty odor of decay and dust. Rhena coughed as dust careened through her nose, itching her throat. Isla slid from Rhena’s arm, dropping to the ground, unable to stay balanced with Rhena’s violent cough.

Eléni & M Move to Athens - Part 10
This new series has its history in the form of several short stories, several poems, and a 13-part series that is linked at the bottom via Part 9 of this series. Anthi Psomiadou has graciously agreed—her comments are proof—to appear as a fictional character in this new series, where she represents the real Greek soul of the story apart from Goddess Athena, of course. Crete is the largest and most populous (around 635,000 people) of the Greek islands and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, bounding the southern border of the Aegean Sea. Crete rests around 160 km (99 miles) south of the Greek mainland and has an area of 8,336 km² (3,219 miles²) and a coastline of 1,046 km (650 miles). Wikipedia

New Earth
Saturday December 12th 2055 Damn it had happened. The end to it all. My mom had been preparing me for this since I was born, I grew up on stories of what was to come. She prepared me so I wouldn't be afraid and could not only survive but create a New Earth. This was it. It had finally happened. Here I was standing on the edge of a new world. I could sense the fear in the air but there was excitement too. For those of us that had mothers that were part of the Secret Sect of The Heart we weren't raised with the stories of doom and gloom but of fearlessness and conquering. We are The Heart of the new world. We are the beat of the new world. We had prepared our whole lives for this moment.

Last Entry
The golden chain from the heart-shaped locket bookmarked the last page of the dead man's journal: Six years have elapsed since the last time I experienced human contact. The intense thoughts that occur during these long periods of solitude are reserved for the fortunate or the rock-solid mad man.

What Could Have Been
It is winter. I honestly don’t remember what year it is. Crazy-- how time seems to stand still, moving through you, while you stay halted in one spot. It has been one hell of a decade, nearly all of the world's population made their way to Mars and cut off complete contact with Earth. There is one town left here that the rest migrated to, maybe a thousand people. Everyone is trying to survive. No capitalism, no money, no instruction, just the remains of what was left. I would call it a cultural reset.

Eléni & M Move to Athens - Part 9
This new series has its history in the form of several short stories, several poems, and a 13-part series that is linked at the bottom via Part 8 of this series. Anthi Psomiadou has graciously agreed—she really did as Goddess Athena is my witness—to appear as a fictional character in this new series, where she is Five of Five like Star Trek’s Seven of Nine. There is a kind of flame in Crete — let us call it “soul” — something more powerful than either life or death. There is pride, obstinacy, valour, and together with these something else inexpressible and imponderable, something which makes you rejoice that you are a human being, and at the same time tremble. It's fine, everything is fine
215. My blood sugar is spiking. The normal range is supposed to be between 80-110, but without my regular insulin shots my normal range had began to climb. Six months ago, the power grids in all of North America completely shut down. There is speculation it was a cyber attack, some claim it was aliens, and most have no idea. Without any power, or technology, communication is sparse.
