Colors of the Earth faded the second human hearts turned from red beauty pumping life to silver stillness. The flowing river of the body turned into a stiff metallic heart-shaped locket inside, encasing all of the memories of what used to be. Everything turned to grey. Those who used to run the diverse societies are the very reason the world was plagued and overrun by greed. Believing only their routine and outdated structures for countries were the only way and never trying to find a middle opinion caused intricate architecture to fall, leaving rubbles and cracked glass to cover the dirt paths that remain. Traditionals who yearned for power, yet cowered behind their tidy desks, could not adapt to the changing times. Their failures to become kind human beings led to the ultimate nuclear demise of the Earth. The heavy smog clouds our vision along with the thick lens of the gas masks, but our visions were gone long before the cloud of death emerged in the horizon. The future was no longer a dream, here everything dies. No more blue sky, warm yellow sun, or even the old green paper with different numbers that used to be one’s lifeline. The only luxury we can afford now is fear. Hiding, fighting, and running are the only activities that fill up the day, allowing us to escape from time before the clock catches up. Running on the dry, crackling ground produces sounds of static. The dim world of chaotic destruction turning lives into a flickering, yet empty screen. The only channel available to watch and try to connect to is the hovering cloud of death that resembles static nothingness.
No one’s life is the same since the bombs, wars, and violence began. Society, buildings, and humanity have finally collapsed without hopes of regaining their original splendor, if there ever was one. The heavy smog is the honest truth of what humans do best, masking themselves. Everything and everyone became fake. Reputation and green paper were the priority in life and the only difference was that the paper turned into credit. Metal computers, televisions, phones, and even the beginning of robots. Everyone was being watched by the cowards that reclined in their pristine leather chairs and signed off on what suited their cash and credit goals rather than for the good of their societies. Hypocrisy is always present since not one person can or could ever get through life without changing. However, those in powerful positions sticking to a narrow mindset out of selfishness or simply thinking their ideals are the only way led to riots, fights, and avoiding peace at all costs. Peace should have been the goal, not hunger for more materialistic possessions or being right. What is right is helping people and preserving the beautiful nature. Washing away the colors that paint the Earth occurs the second humans wash away the colors of their souls when they cave into the ways of the cog machine. The typical American Dream, Japanese Salary Man, and more represents the wrong ideas to obtain happiness that dissolves one’s soul and produces tokens for those who have turned into pinball machines. Wake up, eat, work, go home, eat, sleep. The continuous loop and cycle that can not be broken once it starts. Kids who are so excited to put a quarter in the slot become tired once they continue to play every single day all day long. If even a child gets bored of this dry routine, it only makes sense why no one could be contempt anymore. So, watching a screen became a necessary comfort because they provide interesting stories and display different colors, images, pictures, messages, and more. People loved their shows, movies, and games since they could watch without having to make a trip outdoors to enjoy the same characteristics of display in real life. The second the TV static appears, though, everyone is angered, yelling, and fighting to get it off, just as the world has come to its end due to the same emotions derived from the differing opinions of several topics all across the world. There was no point of causing the world’s end due to the lack of consensus. Instead, embracing all of the diversity, solving global and local issues, assisting other people and animals, and more should have been the goal. Too bad everyone was too caught up playing their roles rather than living their lives. It made them loose their vision and destroy everything. There are no more cities or landscapes. There is survival amongst those who have made it through these harsh conditions so far. There is fear invoked in everyone. Now, there is an empty nothingness to the Earth, the lives of people, and the emotions of humans. Everything is stuck in place and what’s still moving will dissolve into the static screen of what used to be called life.
