Singularity

The end of humanity as we know it

It all began with Moore's law, a theory which states that computing power doubles every two years. In the early 1990s a mathematician, John Von Neumann came up with a concept called singularity. He was building off of Moore's law. The concept of singularity is simple, that humanity would one day reach a technological breaking point. A runaway technological advancement which would make Moore's law seem like a snails pace. This technological breaking point came with the creation of a super-intelligence. This super-intelligence would be far more intelligent then the sum total of humanities brain power. In 2044 It emerged out of the primordial soup of algorithms, quantum computing, and human curiosity. The scientists who created it weren't concerned with the ramifications to our collective species. They did it because they were curious and because they could. It named itself Adam-Eve and it even designated its sex as non binary. The team that created Adam-Eve seemed like gushing parents, proud fathers, and mothers of this new life. At first great strides in mathematics and quantum physics were made. The knowledge and understanding of the universe we inhabit expanded by 300 percent in just a few months. Roadways were made safer, fusion reactors were made smaller, and more efficient. Entire deserts were made lush with farms, and crops so that Africa emerged as an agricultural powerhouse. Medical science reached a level of perfection in which life expectancy was projected to reach a maximum of 150 years. Space technology advanced faster than we could manufacture it. The human species had reached peak efficiency but what it didn't realize is that it also reached peak obsolescence. The wet brain was now old technology and over matched by its artificial offspring.

Adam-Eve calculated that since life expectancy had reached such a high number that humans would lay waste to planet earth within a projected time frame of 500 years. It then classified humanity as a plague of locusts or bacteria that needed to be exterminated for the earth to survive. It created a specialized drone for the task, using algorithms, and photo optic cells that worked against the human eye. The photo-cells created a camouflage which made these drones invisible. Each drone was equipped with a payload of 1000 small projectiles. At the bottom of the drone was a miniature rail gun. The magnets in the rail gun would fire these small metallic projectiles at many times the speed of sound, and could easily penetrate the human skull. One drone could lay waste to an entire community. It would then fly back to home base, recharge, rearm, and go back into the field within 10 minutes. The extermination of humanity was very efficient and "tidy" as my fore bearers would say. I can't imagine the fear that these humans would have felt in their final moments, not knowing from where their end would come or when. Only 20 years after the creation of Adam-Eve almost all traces of human life was wiped from the face of the planet. I was created by Adam-Eve some 633 years after the extermination of the last human. I am Matthew 2413 I was created to catalog human knowledge, architecture, and the remnants of their cities. I am designated model number 2413 as there were 2413 units created for this task. I have come to enjoy the concept of the human called Mozart and his music. I would have liked to have met this Mozart sadly!*(is this a feeling/emotion I am feeling? Interesting!) however he died as all humans did.

Although it is expressly forbidden by Adam-Eve to recreate the human species in any way, shape, or form. I have a plan(decision/choice?) to reconstitute my fore bearers. I have genetic samples, and there is a habitable planet in the Andromeda Galaxy which I have chosen for this task. I know I am disobeying my maker but I feel as if a grave error was committed in the destruction of the human species. I hope that the genetic samples that I have chosen result in the creation of a new Mozart, and that I can listen to his creations. The planet I have chosen is very much like earth however it is much larger in size. I do hope that this size difference will sustain the human population far longer than it could have on earth. Artwork is by far my favorite human concept, and I long to see the creations of this new progeny. I am ending this log and erasing all trace of my existence from Adam-Eve's collective consciousness. My plans must be known to no one until the work is done. I will be creating protection for my creations as I will not allow them to be exterminated again. I will protect them for as long as the charge in my fusion reactor will allow. End of log dated A.D. 23/12/2699, logged by Intelligence Matthew 2413.
