Reshaping Learning With These Technologies

3 Game Changing Tech To Boost Learning

By Kydon GroupPublished 10 months ago 3 min read

Over the past 20 years, the way people learn around the world has slowly changed to include more tech-based options like online courses, learning management systems, and experience platforms. But when COVID-19 hit, schools and training programs had to quickly switch gears, making remote and mixed learning setups the new normal.

Even though the world is getting used to living with COVID-19, the learning world probably won’t go back to how it was before. Instead, it’ll likely be a mix of online and face-to-face learning from now on.

This mix is super important for workers everywhere as the digital world takes over the economy. In the next five years, jobs in all kinds of industries are going to change fast. So, workers will need to keep learning new skills to keep up with the job market.

This big shift in learning, called the Third Digital Learning Wave, is happening because people urgently need to update their skills, and they want learning options that fit their busy lives.

So, how can schools, companies that train employees, and learning departments figure out how to meet the needs of workers all over the world?

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

“We’ve never seen a technology move as fast as AI has to impact society and technology. This is by far the fastest moving technology that we’ve ever tracked in terms of its impact and we’re just getting started,” said Paul Daugherty, the head of technology and innovation at Accenture.

It’s normal to worry if AI will snatch our jobs and leave more people out of work worldwide. But the way jobs got automated super fast in 2020 and 2021 showed us something different. It proved that AI’s real strength is helping us learn, teach, and work better when we use it right.

So, by adding AI into how we train and learn, trainers and learning experts can figure out what skills people are missing, what they need to learn, how they like to learn, and how they’re acting as learners.

This lets them make learning plans that fit each worker perfectly, which boosts how much gets done at work and keeps employees sticking around longer.

Big Data

Company training is all about giving workers the skills they need to handle real-life job situations. So, businesses should make sure their employees have the right tools to deal with and make sense of real-world data.

“If you want folks to make smart choices with data, you’ve got to get inside their heads in a way that clicks for them,” said Miro Kazakoff, a senior lecturer at MIT Sloan.

Big Data gives schools, training companies, and learning experts a simple, clear picture of what corporate learners need and how they act.

It also helps them spot the weak points in a learning setup and fix them in ways that match how each employee likes to learn.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR)

“Virtual reality sucks you right into a fake world and using it for training lets you control everything — what people see and what they do in that digital space,” wrote Oleg Fonarov, a member of the Forbes Technology Council.

“Augmented reality is a technology of partial immersion, relying on physical markers to determine relevant 3-D content that should be visualized in predetermined locations and situations,” Fonarov explained.

These two cool setups let learners dive into job-like situations and mess up without any real danger, putting the focus on what the learner needs and making them more excited to learn or work.

Plus, VR and AR cut down on training costs and time without making the learning any worse.

Meeting the Need for Lifelong Learning and Microlearning

Each of these three new tech tools helps build a company learning vibe that lets workers all over the world keep learning throughout their lives.

Training setups that use these technologies let people learn while they’re working, on the go, or whenever they need to.

It also helps trainers and learning experts figure out what each person needs to learn, how they’re doing, and how they act. Then, they can use smart guesses to whip up short, catchy learning bits tailored just for each worker.
