A Safe Pair Of Hands: Why Lucasfilm Chose J. J. Abrams To Face The Challenge Of Directing 'Star Wars Episode IX'
The last week has been a tumultuous one for Lucasfilm. Colin Trevorrow stepped down as director of Star Wars: Episode IX, with initial reports indicating Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy was unhappy with the quality of his script. Fans initially hoped that Rian Johnson, director of The Last Jedi, would step up. Unfortunately, Johnson didn't seem willing to take on Episode IX; he's still focused on The Last Jedi, due for release in December.

Who is Supreme Leader Snoke? Introduced in The Force Awakens, the powerful being behind the First Order is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. The novelization of The Force Awakens revealed that Snoke witnessed the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire from afar, that he watched the New Republic's birth pains, and that he focused his attentions particularly on Ben Solo. No surprise, then, that a Lucasfilm exec recently confirmed that Snoke isn't human!

New Star Wars Novel Excerpt Reveals The History Of Captain Phasma, Set To Play A Major Role In 'The Last Jedi'
We were introduced to Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma in The Force Awakens, but fans were more than a little disappointed when the character played only a minor role. By all accounts, that's set to change in The Last Jedi; as part of their official buildup to the movie's release in December, Lucasfilm has even gone so far as to commission a tie-in Captain Phasma comic and a novel that reveals her backstory. She's clearly being positioned for an important role in the Sequel Trilogy, so this is likely to be one of the most significant Star Wars novels.

Paul Bettany Joins The Star Wars Universe — Stepping Into The 'Han Solo' Spinoff
Ron Howard is certainly making his mark on Lucasfilm's as-yet-untitled Han Solo spinoff. He joined the troubled production back in June, and since then has been working tirelessly to complete the project and turn it into something Star Wars fans will love. It looks as though that includes bringing on whole new members of the cast — in this case, Howard has just revealed that his old colleague Paul Bettany has joined the production!

Luke Skywalker's New Force Powers In 'The Last Jedi' May Have Just Been Revealed By The 'Battlefront II' Trailer
In 2008, LucasArts launched The Force Unleashed, a tremendously popular Star Wars console game. Set between the prequel and original trilogies, The Force Unleashed introduced players to Galen Marek, a.k.a. Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice. It was a tremendous success, winning a Writer's Guild of America award for Best Video Game Writing, and earning a (less well-received) sequel.
