I Use AI Every Day — But I’ll Never Let It Replace Me
How I’m Using AI to Stay Curious, Present, and Human as a First-Time Dad and Aspiring Entrepreneur

There’s no manual for fatherhood.
There are books, sure. YouTube videos. Forums full of maybe helpful, maybe terrifying advice.
But when you’re holding your newborn at 3 AM, wondering if that weird sound he just made is normal or the start of a super rare condition that only affects babies who were born on a Tuesday during a leap year — you don’t want a textbook.
You want answers. Fast.
Enter: AI. My unlikely parenting partner.
“Is this normal?” and 77 other questions I’ve asked this week
Let me just say this upfront: I don’t know what I’m doing.
First-time dad. No parents or family nearby. Just me, my wife, and our tiny human who came without a user guide.
So I ask questions. A lot.
“Why is my baby grunting like a tiny goat?”
“What milestones should we expect at 3 months?”
“Why does he suddenly hate his stroller… which he loved yesterday?”
AI doesn’t roll its eyes. It doesn’t tell me to “just wait until he’s older.” It answers. Clearly. Quickly. Without judgment.
And honestly? That matters.
Because being a dad isn’t just about reacting — it’s about being ready. When I use AI to look ahead at upcoming milestones or changes, I feel less like I’m winging it and more like I’m showing up with intention.
Marriage and Mental Load: The Real 2-Player Game
Being a husband right now is less about candlelit dinners and more about coordinating naps and Googling if breast milk can touch air for more than 4 hours.
(Yes, that’s a real question. Don’t judge me.)
But AI helps here too.
It lightens the mental load — you know, that invisible weight of 873 thoughts constantly flying through your brain.
Instead of April and I going back and forth about “What should we do with our weekend?”, I ask AI for local events, weather updates, even indoor date night ideas. Done. Saved us 20 minutes and a potential eye roll.
When every hour counts, clarity is intimacy.
The Dadpreneur Starter Kit: Creativity, Cameras, and ChatGPT
Outside of dad life, I’m building something.
Photography is my creative outlet — and maybe, one day, a full-blown career. I use AI like a digital mentor:
- Helping me find tools to sharpen my skills
- Researching what’s working in content creation today
- Brainstorming posts that actually connect
AI doesn’t just help me find information — it gives me new angles. Fresh ways of seeing and telling stories. Like a second lens I never knew I needed.
But here’s the key: I never want AI to do everything for me.
That’s not me. That’s not honest. I want my work — whether it’s a photo, a blog, or a brand — to feel like me.
AI is the tripod, not the photographer.
It’s a Tool, Not the Hero
There’s this fear floating around that AI will replace us.
Maybe in some industries, sure. But not in life.
When I’m making memories with my son, connecting with my wife, or chasing my next dream — AI isn’t doing the living.
I am.
It’s just making that living less chaotic, more creative, and honestly… a lot funnier.
(Ask me how I accidentally used ChatGPT to plan a romantic evening that included changing the air purifier filter. Big win.)
Why This All Matters
I use AI the same way a good dad uses duct tape — strategically, and probably more often than I should admit.
It helps me be present when I’m with my son.
Prepared when I’m with my wife.
And pumped when I think about the future I’m building.
No, there’s no manual for this season of life.
But I’ve got something better:
- A willingness to ask questions.
- A partner who dreams with me.
- And a tool that helps me do both — better.
If you’ve ever felt like life is moving faster than you can Google, maybe it’s time to try asking smarter. AI isn’t magic — but it just might be the sidekick you didn’t know you needed.

I can relate to this so much. As a new dad myself, I've been in those middle-of-the-night panics, wondering if what my baby's doing is normal. AI has been a game-changer. It gives clear answers fast, just like you said. And it's great for lightening the mental load in other areas too, like planning dates. It's amazing how much it can help in these early parenting days. How else has AI made a difference in your day-to-day dad life?
