Gemini

I don't put much stock in astrology. As tweens, my friends and I would read our horoscopes and check our signs for insights into our, and each others', personalities. Just for fun. Some were right on, some were way off. I don't think any of the prognostications ever came true. Really, that the same attributes apply to every single person born within a particular 30-day period seems to be nonsense. Add to that the daily predictions of what is going to happen to each and every one of the people under a certain sign, whether they are 7 or 87, and you have a system that is impossible to believe in. That being said, I thought it would be intriguing to revisit my astrological sign and see how closely it fits my actual adult life. I had to look up my sign on the great font of all things true - the internet.

I am a Gemini. As such I could be described as analytical, mental, and cerebral. Okay, so far so good. That does describe me. I have a university degree and I am more intellectual than emotional. I am supposed to be youthful, immature, outgoing, and prone to excessive partying. Although I'll admit to being somewhat immature at times, it's a hard no on the others. I'm no life of the party. Geminis tend to be very curious, wanting to know everything. That is true for me. They are therefore intrusive and gossipy. Now that's totally wrong. Although I do like knowing what's going on, I never spread gossip. I really do keep it to myself. In fact, I keep a lot to myself. I really do seem to be two different people, though. All in all, I'd guess it's about 50/50 when it comes to how much being a Gemini describes me.

I'm also moody like a Cancer. I can feel myself retreating into my "shell" at times. Like a Leo I care too much about what other people think of me. I'm uptight and critical like a Virgo. I definitely identify with Libra, being non-confrontational, idealistic, and indecisive (at least I think I am). I'm a realist like a Capricorn, as well as sensitive and practical. But I'm also optimistic and philosophical as a Sagittarius. Like a Pisces, I'm impressionable. I'm always getting talked into things. I also have a lot of trouble asking for, or accepting, help. I have nothing in common with either Aries or Scorpio, but I could probably think of something if I analyzed it enough.

That's just it. If you look for something hard enough, you'll find it. That adage applies in all areas of life. If you're looking for yellow cars, you'll see lots of yellow cars. It is especially true when applied to something as subjective as personality. Are you a happy person? Yes, sometimes. Are you a melancholy person? Yes, sometimes. So one can apply any attribute to anyone and still be accurate. When looking at a list of traits, you can think about them and figure out how to apply them to your own self, when you wouldn't necessarily describe yourself that way without the prompting. A visit to a psychic will have you coming away amazed by how much she knows about you when she simply used your own words and body language along with her experience to tell you about yourself. It's the power of suggestion.

There's nothing wrong with engaging in a little harmless fun reading your horoscope and reflecting on your Zodiac sign. It is interesting to see what your traits should be according to your birthdate. I, for one, do not take it seriously. I don't believe the stars affect your life in any way. Then again, we really don't know that much about the universe.
